My PT Turbo had the same problem. Brake fluid fixed it right up.

I went to test drive one at the dealership today (an ACR actually) with 10 miles on it....got on it from 2-4000rpm and BEEP the e-brake light and buxxer go off, this happened 3 times on the same test drive. I now believe I know what the problem was (brake fluid low) but why on a car with only 10 miles on it? Could this be a sign of a future more serious problem with the brake system?

Mine started doing it too - I figured it is low brake fluid as everyone said, but still taking it into the dealer since it is still under warranty!

Just curious: anyone know if there is a leak in the brake lines or does it just use up the fluid somehow?

it's not possible for the brake fluid to get "used up" it doesn't work the same as motor oil.... Not sure how this happened, but it happened to me at about 10k.

I added brake fluid, and problem solved. No biggie. I'm at 33k now and nothing happened since then, everything in good order....

yep, it uses it up, turns it into 'brake dust' on your wheels. Complain to your dealer about that and he'll replace the burners.

Did your brake pads get thinner? maybe the extra room in the caliper has something to do with it/

Well - I assummed that it was the extra room in the caliper, but I asked about this a long time ago - maybe 2 years now... And somebody else told me that it wasn't possible for brake fluid to get "used up". So honestly, I have no knowledgeable experiance ther than from talk to other forum members...

It's quite possible that I'm talking out of my ass, but it was my understanding that brake dust is from the pads - the brake fluid just functions to transfer pressure to the calipers, which will get closer to the disc as the pad is worn away. If this is wrong, I would love to hear from an experienced person how it does function.....

brake dust is from pads. The fluid doesn't get used up. As the brake pads get thinner, the piston in the caliper moves out, increasing the volume inside the caliper, increasing the volume of the system, and it *looks* like you've lost fluid. Put new pads back in and it will be full again....

Pads last as long as they last. Depends on the circumstances really. The dealer changing the pads is the risk you take by going in for service on the brake light coming on. I chose to avoid this by spending $2.00 CDN on brake fluid.
