Barbecue smell in engine

Honestly that's the best way i can describe it because after smelling it it made me a little hungry. I don't drive my car hard nor do I have any mods to it. But just yesterday I was shifting a little past 3k and noticed this smell coming through the air vents when I parked. Opened up the door and took a sniff obviously no body was cooking anything so I left it running. Popped the hood and smelt it distinctly behind the engine bay on the passenger side. Let a minute or two go by and it's gone. No clue what it is but it doesn't smell like burning rubber or metal. And now today I noticed as I let off the gas in between shift I could hear a low whistle like a SSQ BOV. Obviously I'm dropping it off at the shop tomorrow but any ideas?
