I few times now I have shut the stereo off and gotten a fast pased mechanical studdering sound from it, and it lasts about 3 seconds. Like something to do with the CD player. Not all the time, but a few times. Anybody else experience this?
Thanks

Maybe it's just our red SRT's in Boynton. Mine does it too but only if a CD is in the player. Doesn't matter if it's playing or not. But I get the clicking also.
I've got the SAME EXACT PROBLEM! I couldn't figure out WTF the rattling noise was when I started the car. I thought maybe something had come loose from inside by the radio. It only did it when I first started the car. Anyhow I noticed that it was only happening when there was a CD inside the CD player. It doesn't rattle all the time, but when it does rattle it is pretty loud! I hope that a replacement unit fixes the problem. I'll have to schedule a time to drop it off. I'm sure I'll get one of those "CAN NOT CONFIRM" messages when the dealership fails to duplicate the problem.
Yup, Sam, thats how I first heard it, and it first happened right after I installed Stage 1, so you know I was trying to make the connection when I didnt know where it was coming from at first.
I know it will never do it when its at the shop, so I may as well save myself the agrivation and wait to get a decent aftermarket one.
Guys....on my last repair attempt for my boost problems my car came back with the same issue. I never tried to find the rotot cause, but yes its the CD player. I changed mine out so I dont care
