Angry 3rd gear synchros=gone

Well, just about 2 weeks after losing the car for almost 2 days due to a speed sensor malfunction, my 3rd gear starts grinding!!! talked to the tech today, who said it's more than likely the 3rd gear synchros are shot. I'm taking in to autoway dodge tomarrow to see what can be done for me...i.e. warranty work/loaner car. it's an 04 with appx 28k mile.

ps this is really starting to suck.

Do you have any other ... we'll call them, transmission affecting mods?

I don't have any tranny affecting mods...hell, I'm pretty much stock except for a box engine-wise.

Hmm ... I'm having the same problems with my 3rd gear, but I'm not as fortunate as you, mod wise

Question question

I'm having a hard time getting into third sometimes when downshifting, just doesn't want to go in gear. Is this how your problem started....I only have 6k on my 04. Was going to add motor mount inserts and just hope that if something goes in tranny that mopar doesn't blame inserts....was going to have dealer install them though and so far they say they should be fine to put on car.

oddly enough, I didn't even really notice any diff with 3rd...I noticed 1st and 2nd started having downshift trouble, then out of nowhere 3rd gear started grinding. 2 friends recently drove the car, and both said the tranny/shifter felt like crap.

this whole problem is at the WRONG time though...I'm set to drive to ct in a few weeks, and I can't afford this bs right now. and after the speed sensor malfunction 2 weeks ago, I just hate to see what happens when I take my trip.

Solo II are your bringing your rpm's up before going down to the next gear. This reduces wear on your syncros.

The syncros help match the gears up so you can get it into gear but reving it to match rpm takes the load off of your syncros.

Yup, at the local dodge dealer and he asked me if I had issues with my tranny, cuz they just fixed a workers SRT cuz of 3rd gear syncs.
I told him mines notchy and sometime grinds, but moving the brake wire helped alot.
Car has 10k on it ans is about 14 months old?
