Default AMS Short block

just wondering if anyone had a AMS shortblock and how much HP it makes. On top of that how much boost or power can it take as well? I'm really interested in this build-up, so leads maybe helpful. Have a totally stock Stg3R w/ toys if interested in my mods. Future might want to run a good 75 shot with ported intake mani & 55mm TB...

well 4u2nv made 772hp at 36psi so it can hold the power you are looking for.

Default AMS Shortblock

yea i saw that vid after surfing on the forums, that was very impressive. well we know now power can be handled with that block. one question left, what about HP gains? i'm thinking of a .020 or .040 overbore w/ the ARP head stud option on that block.

Slim to none. Double check with AMS but I'm almost 100% positive they overbored the blue car and didn't see any gain. I'm not sure about 4U2NV's set-up though.

Going twenty or forty will not show any noticeable gains. The main reason why most four cylinder cars go overbore is to clean up any imperfections in the side wall of the cylinder. To pick up displacement with cars like ours, you?d need to modify the stroke.

The gain isn't going to come from the over bore. It's the fact you can add lots of boost without breaking things that really make the #'s.

Not all aftermarket pistons are overbore, you can get stock bore aftermarket pistons as well.

correct. My car is a stock bore car with wisecos. Started with a brand new shortblock from dodge and built that. Also went up on the compression just a bit too, so that helps. These are turbo cars though, so you're mainly building the motor to throw more boost at it and stay together

I blew up my engine so I want to buy an AMS short block but i dont know how its going to work the stock turbo with the built block. Any ideas on how will this work?? will I feel the difference with the built bottom end? how many psi can I boost with the stock turbo so I will max it out??
What about stock turbo built block and NOS (100shot+) Please feel free to post any ideas , experiences... or whatever you think its important I should know.

It will run same as stock, however you'd be able to throw a heck of alot more boost at it.

im interested in how much hp the kit can handle.. with the regular eagle/weisco setup.

also what is the timing belt option?
and new oil pump? is that factory?

because i see alot of big turbo cars have oil pump failures.. will this motor with that oil pump option not have those types of problems?

We run stock timing belts and oil pumps.
We have not seen any problems with them.
As far as we know the eagel/weisco setup can hold about 600whp.

with continues beating the stock oil pump gears will break down and then the motor will fail due to oil pump failure. get the billet gears from dcr and you will be fine.
