Cruise control was on the SRT concept vehicle, but was not put in to production. I understand that you wanted a fast economical car, but why skimp on a popular item like this?
packaging and liability, they could squeeze it in there but the setup would run very near the heat of the turbo. If something were to happen and your caught on fire/ or you crash due to the cruise components failing...they are liable. A few members have installed cruise on their own.....85mph is max cruise speed....
cause american cars were always critisized for too few cupholder or ones that barely held anything. The one directly behind the shifter will hold any big cup out there you can find...thats mean to be placed in a cup holder that is
What do you think will be the 2 best points of this new Caliber that will probably eventually replace our current SRT-4?
and...
What would you rather see, personally, a revised "Neon" or continuation of current SRT-4, or go with the new Caliber and start with a clean slate + all the knowledge you have from this version?
they cannot talk about future products.....
dont ask them about the Caliber...they wont respond....as they are bound by confidentially agreements
1) why is our turning radius so bad
2) how dangerous would a carbon fiber hood be in a crash?
DCX does not test crashworthyness of any aftermarket equipment that is NOT a Mopar part
the T850 tranny when mated to the 2.4L Turbo engine = A855 drivetrain
itb a big package to put in a small car...which required a slower power steering ratio and reduced turning radius to properly fit in the 2g neon aswell as being safe for the end user. Anyone who owns a 2g ACR will tell you...that rack....in an SRT4 would equal lots of very wrecked cars...
I do have a question though. In the last Q/A you guys stated that a catch can should not be used on our vehicles. What should we do to prevent the excessive blow by from getting into our IC's?
When I brought the car into my dealer at 10,xxx miles they stated to maintain my warranty I would need to have the IC tubes cleaned every 12,000 miles to prevent a potential damage of the IC, the TB and the IAC sensor.
I don't have a problem with paying for proper maintanence, but was there perhaps a design flaw in allowing so much blowby?
neons...+ blowby = something you are just gonna have to live with
I have run a stock 04 SRT4 in Ohio for over a year now. Even in down pours and heavier puddles, I have never, repeat never had a problem with the stock air box setup. The only time you should worry about water ingestion is if you have a cold air intake installed and the pipe and filter are so low down that going thru a heavier puddle could put the water in the path of your cold air intake. Then you would ingest some water. The stock box is high covered and dry.
not really...the airbox has some venting at the bottom and given the right circumstances you could ingest some watter not to mention that the splash guard can become more or less a scoup. If you are driving fast enough you could splash up water close to or directly into the airbox elbow which could eventually become ingested aswell.
One question on my mind lately is why was the fuel rail schrader valve removed from the srt4 in late 03 early 04? Was it because of the worry that people would use nitrous then try and make warrenty claims?
That is what i want to ask the engineers.
Randy
the non schradder fuel rails on 04+ Neons are less complex than the ones equipped with it from a supplier's standpoint and more expensive to the auto manufacturer. Dodge over the years has implemented many cost cutting measures on the neon line up....i recall that for 03...it was the first time you could buy a base neon with non painted door handles, no rear sway bar and with other touches that made it far less expensive to purchase new.
Can anybody tell me why I can't sign up for 300CForums.com??? I wanted to ask a few questions (see my replies in the 'questions for next session' section)
if you knew anything about Turbo Dodges you'd know thats where they've always been located. Just be glad you've never had to work on a 8v 2.2/2.5 turbo car.....intake manifold and turbo assembly are both on the back
Yea, but WHY... lol. Is there any logical reason for it? Anything that is actually bennifical [sp] out of it? Or is it just the fact of the way the engine is turned... And just like the no PW in the back.. they didnt want turn the motor...? *shrugs* I dunno...
The engine is clocked just fine. The exhaust comes out the back. If you REALLY have a problem with the head being 'reversed' there are other heads you can put on. Search around, it's been covered.
