Why was the decision made to not use the Magnesium cased T-863 6 speed transmission from New Process Gear? Will this transmission reappear in the future?
Hi,
my name is Todd Gordon, and i go to Georgian College in Barrie, Ontario. I am enrolled in the automotive marketing program there, and for a project i have to choose an automotive job that i really like. I am wondering if there are any SRT reps in the Toronto area, that i could possibly interview and talk with. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Email is the best way to get ahold of me.
Lol. Ask Bill Gates to give you Windows source code while you're at it.
Wow, that was a real zinger.
First of all windows is open code prouduct. Thats why anyone can write software for it as well a viruses. Maybe you should have tried using Macintosh as the example. That would have actually made sense.
Second, the reason I am asking this is to help support our efforts with the new SCT tuning product. You know the one that has control over all PCM functions. It would be helpful to know how the NGC logic style engine managment calculates torque.
Third, vehicle PCM's are generally developed by third party companies on a low bid basis, so Mopar most likely did not even build the computer.
Fourth and most importantly did you acutally have a question for this thread or are you just trolling around the forum looking for opportunities to try to look cool? We don't really need more people like you around here.
The ECU runs on code - proprietary code that is owned by (D)Chrysler. The ECU device itself is an expendable product and aside from patents, can be modified in any way you want. By asking for the complete input parameters for the code, every table, etc, you are directly asking them for the source algorithms for the adaptive NGC system. I'll concede that my comparison to the Windows source code was a bit over-blown. It would be more like asking for the raw source code for Clippy the paperclip. It may not be the crown jewel of the thousands of man-hours of R&D required to run the car, but it's just as proprietary and just as confidential as the rest of it.
As a side note, your recommendation to compare the ECU to Mac as opposed to Windows is erroneous. It's quite the opposite, actually. Windows developers use a standard API to develop applications and yes, viruses. Mac OSX is based on FreeBSD, which is an open-source version of Unix. In the latter case, the entire code of the operating system is available for perusal and modification as opposed to the closed-source Windows platform. But that is neither here nor there.
I am hardly here to troll, as if you read this thread (as opposed to posting into a thread that is long-since dead and has been continually resurrected for the past few years because, like you, people didn't read the thread and understand that) I have contributed quite a bit of information. So, dismount from your high-horse, good sir knight.
1. On the 2.4L turbo engine, at what power level/RPM level does the Balance Shaft assy. become a liability?
2. Many owners remove the factory wing to reduce drag, how much does this really lower drag coefficient and at what speed does the down force applied by the wing become beneficial?
Thanx in advance!

[reply to srt 4 moster] You are right, I was not there, I've never been anywhere that black is white, up is down, left is right and cars with less horsepower run 6 MPH faster and .94 sec. quicker....is it a vortex?

A while ago with the debut of the srt-4 and it's factory upgrades, there was rumor of factory made turbo kits for the first generation neon. Was there any truth to that?
We could really use a turbo compatible pcm.
I have a question for all you SRT4 guys. I have a 2003 and I just put 17x7 Falken Torque 5 rims on. Since putting them on I have noticed a ticking sound, a knocking sound, and I have alittle steering wheel shake. If anyone can offer me some advice on what it could be, please let me know.
did you take the crush washers off the hub before you put the new rims on? If you change wheels you must do this!
look at this thread to see what im talking about
Thanks 'lil buddie
Wonder if they are making any deals on the C-SRT-4 yet? Surely they can talk about that, can't they
Seems like they should be...how about zero down, zero APR...only 1 more payment on the SRT-4!
