Default why such slow spool w/ s60? opinions

mods thatll matter:
8.5:1 crower pistons w/ 5layer gasket (8.35:1 compression total)
crower s2 cams
cams set at 0,0
Stage 2
DURATION @ .050: Int: 208°/Exh: 202°
Valve Lift: Int: .385 / Exh: .382

voodooboost mbc w/ ceramic ball
super60
70mm throttle body
70mm ported intake mani

15psi comes on around 37-3800. i cant figure it out. i have zero fuel control at the moment. EMS is going in soon.

i was figuring...the MBC is backed out ALL THE WAY. so there is no preload on it. can that cause such slow spool? every1 that has this said they are getting 18-19psi at 3500.

i was figuring my cams are too large, but onthedwnlow is spooling his 60-1 to full boost (65lb wheel) at 33-3400 and he has brian crower s3's (similar).

any ideas. im planning on buying a hallman MBC. just gunna buy the best there is, and x it out of the equation. do you think thats it?

i hope! kus this turbo is fuckin killin me.

once it spools tho its beastly. im only boosting to 15psi...prettymuch straight spring from wg. at 15psi, once spooled, pulls harder than my 3147 at 19psi.

its a 19lb spring...

but it must've gotten weaker over time...

my mbc is backed out all the way, and is boosting 15...

i dont even know if ill use the EMS' boost control.
you know my schedule. i get to see the car 2x a week, then im back at school bustin ass. im afraid to try and use the ems ebc and have it oscillate or jump around.

tuning for fuel/timing will be a breeze, and i can afford to do that w/ the time i spend w/ this car.

You just did massive surgery on this beast. Double check the exhaust manifold is tight and there is no leak at the gasket. Also check the wastegate, make sure it's tight. I would just recheck all the nuts and bolts at the turbo and check for the obvious leaks. As far as spool my 50 is spooling at roughly 3500 in 4th gear (20psi) so for you to only be getting it a few hundred later does not seem so bad.

20psi at 3500?

seems a lil slow...especially for 4th gear in a 50trim.

4th gear i see 10psi at 3500

seriously bro, its fuckin hurtin me.

luckily i swooped an AEM ems, so i can raise my rpm's.

im going back to daves next weekend, and might install the AEM EMS and fix an oil leak.

ill check for leaks tho i dont hear any. i will also buy a damn 120$ hallman mbc just so i know it aint the mbc.

if it just ends up being this laggy kus thats the turbo characteristics, ill prolly sell it and go smaller. fuckin gay man.

i know you probley know but check for it when the manifold is cold
1 so you can get your hand close to everything and
2 so it will leak more if it is leaking somewhere once my car gets hot you cant hear it but its still there but while its cold it leaks like hell and you can hear it

stethoscope (w/e its called that doctors use to listen to internals) and/or a slip of paper around mounting joints also do wonders.

drastic like everyone says look into an exhaust leak, That will definetly cuz some nasty lag. I had the same problem on my stock turbo(yes it had lag) i would normally be spooled by 2700 and with the leak it wouldnt be spooled til 2900-3000

Just cuz you cant hear it dont mean you dont have it.

We can check foe exhaust leaks tomorrow. I have a full bottle of leak tester in my work truck. That will help out greatly.

Naw man not a four inch tester. Leak test bubbles to spray on exh joints to check for leaks.

We will check the meth tomorrow too. Its prob sumpin easy.

Fosho mang.

Can the MBC be taken apart?

Dont worry so much mang. You have come a long way. Probs come with the terretory, you know that. With the ems, now you dont really have anything else to do for a while.
