i really doubt it has anything to do w/ your head gasket. if your headgasket blew out, or head lifted youd be shooting smoke out.

i bought a copper washer box set from freight harbor for a few box...it comes w/ like 200count different variety copper washers, and a few will work.

Christian - Yeah I was thinking the same thing,if I had blown a gasket from anywhere it would be smoking like crazy,no? Somethings up,I want to look at the boost controller because its an old Turbo XS Manual Boost Controller,I think im gonna try setting the lines back to stock without the boost controller and see if it still shuts down while throwing gears. So my problems right now are...

1.) Car shutting down while throwing gears

2.) Coolant overflow not sucking into motor

3.) Big boost leak,lol.

Didn't make it over to Nemo's tonight.Hopefully tomarrow sometime if hes not busy I could swing through and see whats up.I have never heard of Freight Harbor but im gonna try a few hardware stores around here then ill see what I can do.Thanks for all the help dude,I appreciate it.

-Frazier

~P.S. Do you have a boost controller on your car right now,or what was your setup like when your car was shutting down similar to mine, tuned or not tuned?AFR's?

freightharbor is mainly an online hardware/supply store.

yea, i had the voodoo mbc from ebay w/ the ceramic ball. 23psi. tuned to around 11.5afr.

it only started doing it after i installed my cams...so im assuming it has to do w/ my cam sensor...

Also,I dont know if im going to be able to get a before and after dyno with the AEM EMS.I think the car has a boost leak because it seems to be running slower then before, and check this out...this is my new problem.

When throwing 2nd gear to 3rd(spinning out of control of course) 3rd gear shuts down.It wont move,AT ALL! Im not sure what it is,maybe the cars running too rich?Maybe it just needs to be tuned, something to do with a boost leak?Who knows,if you do either a 1st,2nd,3rd,4th or even 5th gear roll the car is fine,no problem at all its only when I throw 2nd gear to 3rd.And when I throw 3rd to 4th it breaks up a little bit then starts halling ass again.Any input here guys?

I would throw it on the dyno right now but I just cant afford it,I would rather wait until the AEM EMS install, then get some serious numbers out of it then on the dyno and be done with dyno'ing/tuning.

Can anybody help me with my problem?!? Thanks in advance for any advice here...

First when you are adding coolant do it when it's cold fill it up to the top, start the car let it run for 10 seconds shut it off, turn it on, shut if off, turn it on, then shut if off again.

Add more coolant, then do this until it doesn't change the level anymore. Don't fill the overflow. When you start it up it will cycle it through for you. Make sure to keep the cap on.

If you are able to make power to spin I don't think the timing is off, are you on cam gears ect...Let me know more. Any wiring been done recently?

Tim - Ahahahaha, yeah well see whos slow you better belive were gonna run once im tuned son!!!

Josh - Well thats what I had to do,I thought it was like this though...wait until the cars cold (duh) take off the radiator cap, fill it up as much as it can go,start it up,turn it off (a few times) then start filling up the overflow.Guess thats not how you do it because I had to keep taking the cap off every 5 minutes and filling it up from there, but thats fine now.It wont go over 200.

As for the cams,no I am on stock cams and no I have not done any recent wiring.Only time I ever took my valve cover off was to swap out my old one with a new wrinkle red one and to drop the DCR oil mod in.Thats it,theres nothing done internally to the motor.

You think me throwing gears and the car not going anywhere has to do with my cam sensor going bad?

Are you WOT shifting or shifting normal? When it does it does it seem like it hits a brick wall or just shuts down completely? Maybe it's the reflash you got. IDK just a thought.

P.S. I'm going to be running a similar setup to you except I have a 44 lb wheel but I'm getting mine externally gated as well. How was the turbo compared to stock on 13 psi?

Tzone - No,not WOT shifting but defanitely not granny shifting either.Just a fast shift,it feels like it hits a brick wall. The car doesnt actually turn off or anything,I tried just a second ago and it was fine like there was never a problem.Only thing I did different was take the line going that connects the valve cover to the intake and run it under the car because I found quite a bit of oil in my intake coupler No catch can here but I guess that would be a smart investment, lol. Maybe the reflash, who knows...but it didnt do it just a second ago.

The turbo on 13psi felt a little faster than stock, lol. It could be me though,I always get used to the car being as fast as it is,you know?I start thinking things are wrong when everythings fine,I just become used to spinning half way through 3rd,lol.Thanks for the info brother!

-Frazier

~P.S. I boost leak tested the car today and found that I have a boost leak coming from my intake manifold, guess its time for a new gasket! Hopefully ill get that tomarrow so I can get prepared for the dyno on Saturday!!

Yea I've noticed that before too except it was all the time one day I was on the highway driving and some kids pulled up beside me and wanted to race, so I did, would pull way ahead let them catch up and pull ahead again. then all of a sudden the car got pissed and kept hitting a brick wall at 5500 rpms. after I quite and drove it home it's never done it again.

mole' - Not bad man,but bad enough that the boost leak tester wouldn't go above 17psi.

Tzone - Yeah man not so sure what it is,but now I have other problems...more SERIOUS problems than this little stuff.

Check my other thread in this section to see whats up...
