Well, I made the switch to straight E85 using an SCT tuner from AGP. I have been getting tunes and logging data and sending it back to them for tuning adjustments. When we get close we'll finish with a dyno tune. Mods in sig.
Anyway, the tuner finally gave me the go ahead to up the boost. I got it up to 23 psi and took it to the track. It was a street night so there was no prep (even when there is prep here, traction is hard to come by). I ran a 13.1 @ 116.8 w/2.3 60ft and 6000+ft DA. Just to give you an idea how fast it was, full bolt on LS1s were running high 13s at around 106mph that night. I know the time sucks, but the mph is almost 7 more than my previous best on 91. Turbo has more in it and I'm not quite out of fuel yet, but I'm waiting for the bottleneck fix and fuel pump rewire to give me some more margin. The tune is a bit rich down low and lean up top for those runs. I'm figuring I can get to 120mph with enough fuel and good track conditions. Anyway, the car is a beast from a roll.

120 traps on a sst is impressive....what did you need to run e 85? Just a retune?
I needed more fuel and a tune. I was running a returnline, 255 and 650s with a mapclamp and it was getting close to being out of fuel on lower boost, so I went with 750s. I'm going to get the bottleneck fix, queasy and fuel pump rewire to give me a little more room. It seems like fuel supply is dropping off in the higher rpms. |

I thought running E85 would slowly dry out all the fuel seals and then you would create leaks in the fuel system... To much alcohol content for a non flex fuel vehicle?

Straight alcohol is what does that^^^. E85 has gasoline which provides a protective lubrication for seals. All our vehicles run on ethanol (10%) in the winter out here for pollution reasons. You know what the difference between an E85 vehicle and a regular one is? One can sense the ethanol and adjust how much fuel it delivers and the other can't. On older vehicles, it is a more of a problem. This is mainly from the E85 cleaning all the gunk out of the fuel system and plugging up the filter or injectors or pump. There could be other issues that pop up depending on the vehicle model, but from my research, I think the SRT-4 should do fine. If it doesn't, there isn't anything I can't fix or figure out. This isn't rocket science, believe me, I know... |

Any updates on this? I suspect that we should see some record numbers running the E85 on the SST.

Sorry I've been out of town since that last time at the track. I'm hoping to hit the track the 3rd of October in Pheonix where the prep is better. Also, I'm going to put the traction bars back on and the fuel system mods (fuel pump rewire and bottleneck fix). I'm thinking 120mph is possible with this setup in some cool weather. |
