Hey you guys, got a quick question. I'm taking a trip up to Sonoma, CA on Friday, just over 500 mi. I have a Kinetic WGA and PTB is an issue but I have learned to drive around it. The only problem is that my girl is going to help my drive as well.
I was a little worried about her driving and hitting full boost at like 40% throttle, so last night I plugged my stock vacuum lines up the my Kinetic WGA. I had the WGA set to spike just over 16 pounds, but when I took the car out after plugging the lines back in, I was spiking over 25lbs!!!! I turned off all the settings of the FTM, put all the adjustments back to zero and turned off the auto-tune, and I'm still spking over 20lbs. Any ideas? This is only temperary, but I still have PTB issues. Just to be sure, the tubro vacuum line goes above the line to the WGA, right?

Thanks guys.
Uh you do realize the FTM is a Fuel Tunning Module not a boost tunning device. Changing your fuel settings will not affect your boost levels. You need to addjust the preload on the Kinetic WGA,I think.

I loaded up a map today and the car acted normal....WOO HOO....I dont know what got into the car this last weekend....well the only difference I notice now is that the a/f's dip into the 12's at times...it didnt do that before...anyone else notice this??
I think your car was possessed.

Yes, I do know that. But what are these fuel computers but complex Map clamps. If you are using a map clamp on a stock car with the computer controlling boost, if you adjust it too much, the car doesn't see all of the boost it's making and you can get massive spikes. If you don't believe me just ask Das, he actually states that when tuning with a map clamp you need to have a way of controlling boost. When I first tuned with a map clamp, I adjusted so much that the car started spiking over 20 pounds with the stock waste gate. I have adjusted the preload on the turbo to what would be only spiking 15lbs with the waste gate directly plugged into the turbo. And again, just to be sure, on the vacuum tree, the turbo line is above or below the line to the waste gate?
The PCM needed time to relearn the boost curve since you have had it off PCM controlled boost for so long it doesnt know what to do. It will correct over time but what I would do is just tell her to keep it out of boost and you should be good.
Well after driving 1000 miles in three days, it still boosts way hi, just over 20psi. Not really too worried, I'm going to pull the vacuum lines again tonight and go back to being in control. Oh well!
Ah okay cool....so I can clap at 4.9 instead of 4.85
Yes, you can. Your fuel pull will put you below the 4.85 anyways no matter how much you boost (well within reason) and you will be protected in the event that something goes wrong (line blows off the WGA) and you over boost. The 4.9 will pull timing and keep you from going boom.
