If you think power is an issue run your power wire directly to the battery and see if it works. Actually I ran mine to the pdc under the hood. Every now and then when I plug mine up to my laptop it thinks its finding a mouse, so my port is being used and the FTM doesn't see. So as soon as I go to device manager and delete this mouse it thinks I plugged up. My port number is back and it works fine. You might be having a similar problem.
Do you have an older lap top? If so that will happen with these units. Check your laptop for broken files and clean up the drive a little bit. That should help. back to black has some of the same issues and he hooks up through a different wire to get into the file. I will see if I can get him to post on here as to how he hooks up, thanks.
I don't think you should drive your car if the unit isn't working. I mean, as long as the FTM has power, it will send the MAP signal to the PCM without any changes, so it would work. But if the unit isn't getting any power, then no MAP signal will get sent at all. I don't think you got a different FTM computer, I think it's just a port conflict with your computer.
If you go into "My Computer" on your destkop, then into computer settings, you should be able to find a icon in there that will get you to be able to see all the ports available on you computer, and be able to reasign them. What version of windows are you running?
Okay heres the update guys.......After many times of tryin I could not log onto the FTM through my computer....John Called me which was really cool of him and we discussed all the different things that it could be....first thing was first, I checked of the FTM was getting power, which yes it was...So its a connectivity issue with my labtop and the FTM.....So I get my friends company Labtop and which plugs up with the wire provided by PTP....Its windows 98 and its an older computer...so anyways I install the software and BOOM it connected to the FTm.....Now I have new problems.....I can onyl calibrate the map...
I have to find a way to connect to my laptop because really I cant afford to buy a oldr labtop....and besides my friends is not even his its a company one....and I cant do anything with it anyhow....So tommorrow Im going to try to figure out how the hell I can connect to my labtop!!!! Im going to Frys Electronics and see if they can help me!!!!!

You shouldn't need an older labtop. I have a brand new HP Pavilion labtop running XP and it works. I really do think it's a problem with windows not assigning the driver for your USB to Serial adapter a Com Port. If you go down to Fry's, bring your computer, and the serial to USB adapter. I really think that's the problem. Good luck man, keep us updated!

Are you connected through a USB or using the supplied cable???
Got a check engine light on the way home.....Got two Codes....
P0108 Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit High Input
PP0688 ECM/PCM Power Relay Sense Circuit Open
Is this due to only Calibrating TPS and not the others.....
i got a code also when i was first dealing with the ftm, i was having problems connecting to the ftm (i hadnt install the driver) and after tryiung unsuccesfuly to over and over to connect to the ftm it would give me the code p0129 also about barometric presure, but since i got my connection problems taken care off it hasnt come back again.

I am using the supplied cable, that plugs into the usb adapter that I bought, so I have both back to back. I have no problems with it whatsoever. I've got the FTM behind my turbotimer, which is under the stereo, and the cable going into the glove box. I just open the glove box, plug the FTM into my USB adapter, set my labtop on the seat, and heat out.
I GOT IT TO CONNECT......Yes Im sooooooo freaking HAPPPY......man this feels like a load of my shoulders.....So heres how I connected.....I used the supplied able that came with the FTM, from there I connect to the the USB adapter and to the computer......so its all good now....when calibrating the last sensor.....I didnt push the gas right away and it died.....so I turned it on and calibrated and now everything is cool.....
cool i know the feeling, that feeling you get you finaly get it rigth, now if you have any problems with anything else comebeack here we are all more than happy to help out.
Congrats man, I had a feeling it was something little like that. It ALWAYS is. I hate it. Oh well. Now get tuning and let us know how it works out. I really think you'll like this little box.
ALLRIGHT!!! Its looking to be a good day for everyone. I can not belive that I didnt think about hooking the 2 wires together I was so frustrated with the fact that the unit was not hooking up for you that I "spaced" out on that little detail. Now for a little teaser, sunny how is the boost controll feature working for you? This will be the next batch guys and no we will not be able to use it in the v1.0. Price is still TBD, but it will be much more then the v1.0.
