Well I wanted to try and get the car running so I went and got a friends stock intake manifold. It had a hole near the #4 injector so I assumed it would be just a small leak and said screw it. Well put it on and cranked the car up.....was hanging at almost 3k rpm! I play with the timing and got it to idle around 1125, but figure what the hell oh well. Let it idle there for about 30min....shut off and checked for leaks...none. Started it back up and let run for another 30min or so and went for a drive around the block. At this time the vaccume leak is causing more problems then I thought....was having to try and tune around the dang thing. I pull into the driveway and said forget it I will just wait until the new stuff comes in. I now see smoke and oil....turn car off and pop hood to find a damn fire on the manifold...here are the results.. Somehow the oil return line decided to move over and touch the manifold....I am guessing it did when I was driving because it was perfectly fine when I checked it while sitting there. I guess my question is now anyone think I hurt anything while it was on fire? No wires are around there....just the turbo manifold really. I am of coarse going to change my oil when I get it running here shortly, but other then that I dont think any damage could have been done?
I dunno....I saw general smoke from the new piping and all so figured it was normal. I smelled a little tiny bit of oil before I went to drive it, but I looked and didnt see anything leaking from underneath, etc. I am guessing during the drive around the block with the EGTs getting hotter from the dang vaccume leak is what caused it to burst into flames. Thank goodness it was AGP heavy duty oil return line because it withheld alot better then a regular line would(I assume). I hope the braided line will hold up to the heat!
Oh and the car did sound badass.....too bad I cant start it though and get a soundclip

Yea I know. I wonder if there is any damage to anything besides the flames that burned the piping on the side? I will of coarse change the oil, but is that it? The flames were only about 4-5 inches high.
Awesome job on the manifold john. The manifold an TB came in today. Only issue is I have to get those two bolts that hold on the piece that connects to the charge pipe tapped out since the heads are seriously stripped. That will be taken care of tonight or tomorrow morning then I am going to find some more screws so I can put the bigger piece on. Other then that I should be good to go. I had to order a intake manifold gasket from the dealership and that wont arrive until tuesday or wednesday of next week...not sure what happened to the one that was on the manifold...looked to be in good condition. As soon as I get the bigger piece on the TB bolted down I will take some pics. Just giving an update.
Some one told me about this yesterday, thank god it didn't turn out worse then that.
It sounds good and now you have the line on the way.... I hope to see great ness in your future with 500 WHP on the stock motor. I have seen you calling and sorry I have not picked up, I am swamped and working 20 + hours a day right now. Just about all caught up and I will be on here more and picking up the phone again.

Its ok I was just going to mention to you about the line that melted in the pictures above. Maybe make a note of this when selling kits they will have to watch out for it. Its my fault I should have thought about it, but hell it was around a inch and half or more from the manifold....somehow it creeped over and touched Oh well braided line with metal tie straps to pull it away from the manifold FTW!

Thanks. I might have the coupler that you need sitting here in stock I just didn't know what angle or straight? Its 3" to 2.5" for the larger coupler. Let me know what you need and we can get you taken care of for sure. Pipe order showed up today and I will be getting the final part built for you here in a few days.
That manifold was a pure pain in the ass to port out. Must have ruined 2 bits getting it down to match the t-body. Looks good doesn't? Take care and get that thing all bolted together and get us some numbers, can't wait.

We are building a return line kit for it now. I saw the fitment issues when we bolted it onto the block. Braided line and line clamp should be the ticket.

I just need a straight coupler as the pipe goes straight into it. I am not sure what size the piping is that comes from the intercooler to the TB. The piping is off of a SRT8 jeep if I remember....think its like 2.5 piping....about the same size as on a 60mm tb opening.
Hell yes it looks real good. I will get some numbers as soon as everything is together.
Till I get one I can just reuse the radiator hose that I have been using...it works wonders
