yup.... needed a clutch, talked to John (who's always honest and helpful) about which to choose from (from his selection of 4 or 5)..
i decided on the stage 3 clutch (my goal is ~450ft lbs only at track/dyno tune) instead of the stage 4....
order was made on a friday, clutch was received on monday, which is waaay fast, especially for USPS priority.....
had a minor issue which John was quick to circumvent and help fix...
clutch went in... didnt do the install as the write-up states.... yanked the bellhousing off prior to taking the clutch off the flywheel..... (a lot easier to do it this way)..
installing the clutch, i put the clutch on the flywheel prior to bolting the bellhousing on..... (much easier to do, especially if you didnt line the clutch up properly..)
after the first 200 miles, only going WOT for about 20-30 seconds (passing cars, no racing...) all pretty much in 3rd gear, clutch feels fine...
after 300 miles, did a 0-60 run.. left severe tire marks down a side street, showing my shift point from 1st to 2nd....
clutch grabs hard..... and the transition from stock to an upgraded clutch didnt have much difference in clutch pedal "feel"....
BUT....when it grabs...it grabs.. not slippy/sloppy like the stock clutch... but still grabs within the bottom 2-3 inches from the floor... (and i dont have to stretch from using more force)
i will update the thread at 1000 miles and after track/dyno pulls once i have some small tooooonin issues worked out
cheers to PTP for a great product... any specific questions, ask in the thread so it can be used for future reference...
p.s. dont let your buddy fall asleep when re=installin the bellhousing/transmission.... bench-pressing the transmission (car on jack stands) is a PITA......... especially when no-one is there to guide you onto the shaft.......
Ok this will be the thread that most PTP clutch owners post in so people have an idea as to what they will be getting when they buy a cluch. I will update this thread when I get the time but this is one spot for you to go and read and post if you want PTP clutch owners to come in and asnwer questions for you. A clutch is a very important part of performance and the install is very expensive so you need to "know" that what you are getting will meet your expectations. Here is the thread just for that.
If you have any questions feel free to post them in here, thanks.
I was once in the grasp of clutchmasters until John squared me away on what i believe is a superior product. i'm so glad he decided to start carrying these babies.... good job man. once the car is back out of the shop (seems like i'm saying that every day), i'll give more performance-minded details, but your selection and speed of getting them out (as stated above) is unbelievable!

S3r Owner 6-12 months later: i'm thinking about sellin my big wheel stg3 and getting the <insert bigger turbo here>. i'm looking for <insert some number north of 350 here> hp or so. what do you guys recommend?
I'm in the market for a clutch. I'm trying to see if I can get one locally, but if I can't, I'll need to order one ASAP. My car is entirely stock...and I simply don't feel 'ok' with paying $430 for a STOCK clutch.
I'll check back in at around 12-1pm PST and try to give you a call.
What's the break-in on the Stage 2 (kevlar) again? I remember you saying it was 1,500 miles. No hard pulls in 1st or 2nd, but a lot of 3k+ pulls in third?
Does that sound about right? Want to be 100% sure I'm breaking this clutch in properly.
The stg 2 has a 500 mile minumum break in and no 1st or 2nd gear pulls during that time.
500 mile? Ok...John told me more like 1,500, but that's cool. I'll be sure to do a lot of 3rd gear freeway pulls.
Yes I did but the 500 miles should be good since you are stock turbo. 1000 miles would be better if you can refrain that long. 3rd gear pulls for a few weeks should be about it and then when you feel that the clutch is grabbing good and consistant then you can go down to 2nd gear pulls. 1st gear will be ready after you have the 1000 miles on it or if you feel that 500 is good and the clutch is consistant with engaugement and pedal quality then you can try it. Minumum is 500 miles but I like to double that if not triple it "if" you can stay out of the go pedal long enough.

I don't know what stage clutch I have since i told john i need something to withstand the power i have plus some. (i think he gave me the 500lbs of tq one) well i installed it onto my Fidanza flywheel and took it out for a spin.
*brief note: before this I had the Clutchmasters stage 3 clutch
Now i had a few small problems that were easily corrected with a phone call to john.
now for the first driving impressions:
since i was used to the clutchmasters i jumped in and thought something was wrong because the pedal feel was WAY too soft. found out that is how a real clutch is supposed to feel. the clutch engages really fast and nice. I can't get over how nice this clutch feels just in daily driving, can't wait to break it in.
John please let me know my break in and the stage of clutch i have?

You have a PM, thanks. Now 500 miles and get back on here to let everyone know, thanks.
So far, so good. I have about 400 miles on my new Stage 2 Kevlar. It's been hard being easy on it, but remembering how much everything cost sobers me right up, hah. Lots of third gear pulls on the freeway, just like John said. Can't wait until she's all broken in. - Just to be safe, I'm doing 1,000 miles. Oi. 600 to go.
