Default 49lb S3 makes 363whp and 368wtq on pump gas.

Hey guys whats going on?Well I have been through quite a journey with my car, from buying it 2 years ago to popping my motor 6 months ago needless to say I have had my ups and downs with the car.I wanted the car to drive well and I was aiming for 400whp and 400wtq with stock internals but obviously that didn't happen. My mod list is as follows...

- 49lb S3 Turbo
- FBM Externally gated, ported, polished and ceramic coated S3 Manifold
- FBM Intake Mani
- E.D. Super Beast FMIC
- ATP UHP w/HKS bov
- Devils own 3 bar progressive trunk mount kit with 2 nozzles... (first nozzle is an M7,2nd is an M5). I get zero knock at 21psi with 360wtq.No boost leaks, everything is welded and teflon taped.

- 3" TBE
- 3" SRI
- AEM EMS
- NGK V-Powers gapped at 30
- 8.2 mm wires
- DCR 255
- DCR Oil Modifier
- Red star return line
- 03' Rail
- RC 750cc Injectors
- 55mm TB
- Big oil filter kit

I figured if I were going to make 400wtq on the stock motor on stock internals,I was going to need alot of Meth (my progressive kit with 2 nozzles),something that would allow me to get a great tune (AEM EMS) and of course the guts of the whole operation,a great turbo (49lb Stage 3 turbo,FBM externally gated, ported polished and ceramic coated exhaust manifold.).I was wrong.Nemo tuned the car, boost was at 23psi on pump gas (but spraying meth of course).Temps were 100+ and my downpipe was not open.Heres the dyno sheet.

Not really sure what my problem is,im kind of bummed since I feel like I did everything I could have possibly done to get the numbers I wanted out of the car on stock internals but I didn't.I see kids with stock stage 3 turbos on stage 3 pcms making the same if not more horsepower and torque then I am and I am sure there cars drive great since they are not running the EMS.I will be flat out honest with everyone, the car drives like shit.It is my daily driver, hence the reason why I didnt touch the inside of the motor.I turned the ac on today and the car died in traffic, its really aggravating..im about to sell the AEM EMS,purchase a S3 PCM,Cams and a DTEC and call it a day.I see people make huge power with those 3 things in the "Stage 3 turbo owners" thread and they still have driveability (what I want).Oh well.Dicuss.

you're the THIRD person now that has bad luck w/ the 49lb s3.

we tuned a DCR built top end w/ 16s. external wastegate. anti-surge mod. 49lb s3. couldnt get past 410hp.

supermech couldnt get past 420hp on the AEM EMS w/ aaronneon tuning it...

and both cars full spooled at 3600..

your boost seems to come on super slow (just assuming by following your torque curve...and you dont start going past 300hp until 4200...

49lb s3 is just not the way to go, imo...and this 3rd PROPERLY tuned car, proves it...

Yeah bro I completely agree with you,and I feel alot better now that I am not the only person getting bad numbers here with this turbo but this shit is just ridiculous man.I would rather have a 44lb wheel with my setup and cams, like how J-SRT4 had his car setup you know? The boost doesnt come on slow though, well obviously the dyno tells otherwise but when your driving it on the street 2nd gear is pointless and third pulls but its not what I want, its just not enough. Thanks for the input man... I feel like killing myself right about now, lol.

so maybe a different PCM or hiding things from the S3PCM is what is needed.?

Yes exactly, thats why people who are making big numbers on the S3 pcm are running race gas or methanol to turn the HOM on,cams and some sort of piggy back (DTEC or SAFC).

We only went that high because the turbo was only making power at that boost level,it wasn't doing too well running above that but the thing is that shouldnt matter anyways. The car should have made 400wtq on 20psi seeing as how everyone with stock Stage 3 turbos are making damn near 400wtq with just HOM on and a couple of porting mods.I see you had a hard time getting your numbers too huh?We were comparing my dyno sheets to yours,we both get the same initial spool up but you obviously made more power up top since your head work and cams I believe.I would run smaller nozzles though with your direct port,I believe thats what was killing you...maybe thats just me though,I dont know.

I was told to stay away from anything bigger then the 44 wheel from someone who knows a lot more about these cars then I do.
