Default Urgent Question for Stage 1 Owners

I am trying to find out if ANY of the Stage 1 kits shipped included the thermal protective caps that were on your original injectors.
The kit I recently installed had none and there was nothing in the instructions about transferring the old caps to the new injectors.

My concern is that without the thermal protectors the injectors will be more prone to Heatsoak which will cause coking of fuel and restrict the injectors. Lean running injectors can burn pistons and valves.

Since damage caused by the kit is un warranted I wanted to find out as soon as possible if this is an issue with ANY Stage 1 kit.

Thanks for your help in advance!

I'd PM TurboG for the answer.

I honestly think you are overreacting. Only in extreme cases would fuel be coking up.

I don't think there will be a problem.

I agree that there should not be a problem, only question is... why did they put them on there in the first place? I guess they DO have a lot stricter rules than when it is through Mopar. Oh well, I would not worry... (course it is not my car)

I have this problem with my old 944,which does have the end caps. It is more of a long term problem with my NA Porsche, but I know that the turbo plenum gets plenty hot, and that starving cylinaers in the turbo may not be such happy campers

I have no idea what these caps are all about as this is the first I have ever heard about it. Are they on the rail or intake side of the injector? I’m guessing they’re on the intake side. Is there any reason they can’t be transferred from the old to the new? I would be curious to see what MP has to say about it.

Damn...OWN3D!

dodgetweaker: you seem very knowledgable with specific's to SRT-4 parts. Do you work for DCX or Dodge or something?

Manifacturer is not the problem. I have NEVER seen metal to metal contact with injectors....This isn't a spark plug. if they wanted metal to metal why not thread it. Actually the injector end is EXACTLY the same on both injectors (the difference is in the internals. The caps would fit one to the other except that once installed you have to trash the little caps to get them off.

This heat soak problem takes a while, probably a few months for the residue to build up and choke off the injector.
