You should really add to that, what safe levels of boost are. I dont know how many times Ive answered this week what safe boost on stock fuel or stage 1 are. For the sake of adding it to this thread, 15psi at redline, around 17 peak on stock fuel, 15-16psi redline and 18 peak on stage 1.
How much boost is it safe to run at redline on the stock tail lights?!?!?!?
28psi. If you get the Moapr 3D ones 34, the ones from Modern 39 (black), 41 (CF), and 55 (chrome). Nightshades will allow you to double whatever the tail lights can normally hold, so 110 in the case of the chrome ones from Modern.
Another question... are those part numbers right for the spark plugs? They read in the post 'LZTR5AIX-1' but should they be 'LZTR5AIX-13'? I'm looking to get spark plugs on a basically stock car (intake, JMB Hard Pipes) and can't seem to find a real answer. I'm thinking of going with the NGK plugs 'LZTR5AIX-13' and not the 'LZTR6AIX-13' because they are a heat range colder. Anyone want to chime in on this? It would be greatly appreciated as there is no CLEAR answer to this on the forums. Thanks!
I'm curious to know what is wrong with the factory type plugs? Aren't they ok as well?
Since this is titled "SRT-4 Basic Upgrade Path", it needs sections on handling and braking too.
Nah. Most of the people that really care about that stuff will know to go to the Braking/Suspensions forum. I think, people that ignore the brakes/suspension, and just concentrate on the driveline, will end up with a wrecked car and/or dead, so I agree it should be high on the list. Right after driving school.
Then the thread should be renamed "Basic HP Upgrades" because that's all it's about. Or don't brakes and suspension count as upgrades?
I'm with you. Hotchkis sways are the first mod I did. P-Werks rear strut bar, Ground Control front camber plates, Stage 3 Mopar/KW coilovers are waiting to be installed. I was just stating that they are an after thought to most. It seems that if they do think of suspension, it is for the lowered look.
Hello. I'm new. I know this isn't the best place to make my first post, but i figured i'd ask/say something. Since the 2005's come with the suspension package (assuming you get that package), would it still be necessary to upgrade the suspension (please feel free to flame me if this has already been answered in the suspension thread )?
You're right you should of searched and looked at the Brakes/Suspension Forum and then if you didn't find what you are looking for, post this question in the appropriate forum. Once in the appropriate forum you should post in a thread that already has the information you are looking for more info on. Then if you still aren't getting the info you are looking for start your own thread in the appropriate forum.
The suspension package you are referring to is the ACR. This is a great way to start b/c most people overlook the suspension when upgrading their car. They see it as a visual mod or put something that is adjustable and screw up the way it's meant to be tuned for. Plus the guys that put this together know what they are doing and you can't go wrong with what they suggest. BTW, the ACR is a limited run and are now being sold as quick as they hit the dealer.
If they had the ACR when I was in the market, I would of bought it, as it has everything I am modding on mine, plus some. Then I wouldn't have to worry if the dealer is going to void my warranty for something that this car should of had as an option last year.
Mr CLean,
I,m curious about the mods and horsepower figures that you mentioned in your post. It seems that these figures come straight from GT4 or Forza Motorsport... How are these HP figures taken?, are these figures BHP or WHP, and many of them seem very high. On a boosted car, and unless the air intake is restricted, gains of 15 hp either BHP or WHP is very unlikely. Boost is a measurement of backpressure as horsepower is a function of torque. Forums are meant for educating people, giving information that is unverified is dangerous, not to mention you also stated that you have not modded your car, I'm curious why give out advice when you haven't tried it for yourself.
Oil Catch Can
Campbell Hausfeld IronForce Series 1/4" NPT Mini Air Filter.
Auto Zone carries the same filter for 11.99
I found this yesterday after buying mine from Lowes for 20.00

yup, i got my at tractor supply center of all places, 12.99. seems the same as the 19.99 one at lowes, except its blue instead of black.
- so it is still possible to do the $20 catch can for 20 bucks
i installed mine in the same spot shown in the how to, but i removed the stock hard line from under the manifold, and ran the new hose from the filter, around the front parallel to the upper radiator hose, then straight down to the intake.

All the car factorys, Chrysler included, try too keep the cost of the vehicle down by using the cheapest shit they can get away with. A good example would be the battery clamps currently in use. They are way junk but they get the job done! Usually aftermarket parts are higher quality...that's how the aftermarket makes money.
