I have my NGK 4306 plugs gapped at .045, and I bought the anti-seize but all I could find was Dielectric Silicone Compound, is this the same as Dielectric Grease? Thanks!
So I just installed my spark plug. Like said and when I finished I turned my car on and heard a small rapid knocking sound, it sounded like it was coming from where the first spark plug is (left), so I proceeded to turn the car off, I checked the plug, gap is still fine, so I put it back in and turned it back on and it started again for about 10 seconds then went away.
Then I checked if it would come back at any RPMs other than idle, sure enough it came back for about 10 seconds then went away. Checked it at other rpms again and nothing yet.
Anything I should be concerned with regarding the spark plugs? I dont have a torque wrench but they're 1/4-1/2 turn past when it gets snug. Not sure what is going on any help is appreciated!
^^ Bump for my question, anyone have any guesses? I just went back and pulled everything out and put it back in, so far no more knocking but Im worried if maybe something fell in? I don't see how tho, I have all the old spark plugs in tact. I put the boot back on while getting the spark plugs ready, gapped and tightened them properly, I just dont know why it did that, it makes me nervous.
I would also like to mentioned after I got my car back from the dealer it has been ... studdering per say, the rpm's sit fine at idle but the vac is @ -15 where it normally sits at -20. They said the intake is split somewhere, so that may be the reason, I told them not to replace it since I have an AGP on its way that will be here Friday. Any help would be appreciated!
Where does your boost gauge needle sit when the car is off? 0? If not at zero your gauge may be broke. I would suggest a boost leak test. I do not think a rip in the intake would cause the vac to sit high. I may be wrong.
Okay I threw a CEL this afternoon and took it to the dealership. They told me it is because of the rip in the intake. The car is running rich of it. I asked them if I should not drive my car if at all possible because of this and I was told a turbo car running rich is not a problem... Soooo im confused yet again..
What dealership is this? Where is this "rip" at. Can you get us any pictures. What is the CEL?
Turn the key 3 times and look on the Odometer. It will display a code. How do they know its running rich?
They reset the code and it hasn't come back yet. I didn't get to check the number. The rip is right by the turbo, I will post a picture tomorrow when its light out.
Yeah its the rubber elbow that connects to the turbo inlet. There is a tear in it. The service tech told me that the sensor is detecting how much air flow is going near the filter, but its actually pulling air in at the tear in the elbow so its dumping more fuel in, therefore running rich. Honestly I can't make heads or tails of this.
I have an AGP CAI coming in this Friday. He told me when I put it on to bring it in and he will check it out again.
your "tech" is a moron. There is only MAP signal (Manifold Absolute Pressure) and a calculated MAF (Mass Aif Flow) by the PCM. There is NOTHING a tear in the intake could do...I don't run an intake.
