I did the spring mod today. My question is i used a light spring and was able to adjust it right the first time. I spike 15 psi and it drops to 14psi in 3rd gear. Will this be ok to run. I dont race the car as I will lose my job if im caught. I just was tired when i did hit the gas it wouldnt spike but rather hit 12psi and hold till redline. I did a boost leak check and was only leaking at the normal spots. The car is stock right now I have a new intercooler and exhaust to put on.
it won't hurt anything, but i suggest just paying the money and getting an agp wga. theres used ones for under 100$ and you shouldn't have any boost leaks

Nope, because you would be taking it off pcm controlled boost so there is no way for the pcm to bring it back down
either the spring mod or a new adj wga is the same thing, the adj wga connects to the same hoses to the turbo.. the red line going to the cold side that connects to the solenoid is to " LEAK BOOST " when the pcm detects more boost that it should. if you're a costumer in a budget like me, just grab an ebay boost controller for arround 15-20 shipped and clamp off that red bitch line and you'll be fine, no more PCM BOOST CONTROLLED!!!

let me give you an advise, the intercooler use it only if you boost 20+. if i were you i'll just buy an intake before full 3inch exhaust, motor mount inserts to get rid of wheel hop you know simple stuff. that's if you just dont want to race but when you want to step on the gas pedal get a little more response.
i did the same spring mod with my srt, bought an ebay type-s bov for arround 25, i did my own cold side pipe to mount my bov for around 30, boost controller, downpipe and intake, and im set at 16. more than that with everything like it is now and it'll be bad for my turbo. the economy is not helping me to buy name brand such as agp greddy hks etc. just keep on digging and you'll find some cool mods for really cheap.
The only drawback to the spring mod is that you will have to reset your ecu every week or so because it will eventually lower your boost back down.
I find that hard to believe. I've had the spring mod on for 3 months or so now, spiking at 18 and holding 15 to red line. Yet to have any CEL's to come on.

Yeah I've had my spring mod for a year and never had to reset my ECU. I originally brought an aftermarket wastegate (don't wanna say which one because the company has EXCELLENT customer service and I don't want them to look bad) and read about spring mods. So I put the stocker back on and tried the spring mod. WOAH, what do you know, my spring mod actually held more than the aftermarket wastegate. Plus I put a turnbuckle on it (from home depot) and now I can control my boost. So I sold my aftermarket wastegate and brought some tail lights.
