Maybe the next subject to talk about is something that I've been PMing some of you about; having the turbo ported. I've seen alot of people complaining about the 3500rpm spool that this does. So I was thinking of just having the exhaust manifold ported and ceramic coated. Anyone else with thoughts or ideas?
Well this problem hasn't been pinpointed yet and it looks to just be a wga issue. People with DCR work and an agp s3 wga get tons of boost at 3k rpm and it come on quick. We think that all this boost is overloading the stock wga and the spring gets "shocked" and can't open fast enough. All the people with this problem have the s3 stock wga. I first didn't get full boost until 4100 rpm, a few twists of my wga made it 3400. That's a big difference and almost pinpoints the wga as the cause.
Trust me, if you're going to do porting do both. Exhaust manifold porting alone isn't going to gain you a whole lot...
Thanks. I've been talking with Bob and he really has been helping me understand. I'll be sending him my stuff when it comes in. So really every S3R user should consider either Bob or DCR, right? Since I'm still so very new to S3R (but not to the SRT) I'll play with the WGA for a while and slap on the AGP S3R WGA.
By the way, you PM box it full I tried to send you a message . . .

Skip playing with the wastegate and just go with the AGP wastegate.

damn i have the stock wga and inconel wheel with a ported compressor housing and i get full boost by 2900 rpm... i have been lookin at the dcr mod but that scares me

I am holding 22psi with stock stage 3 wastegate. What is everyone holding with the agp stage 3 wastegate?
Was PTP going to start doing porting and possible clipping of S3 turbos? I heard some rumors about it awhile ago. It was right after the whole thing with the deleted thread about this dude who supposedly got insane hp out of S3 and had the list of everything he did on that thread. He mentioned who did it and it got deleted because the dude wan't a vendor. I'm not exactly sure how the whole deal went down. But anyways, someone said that a vendor was going to start doing a similar mod to what was done on that thread. There were rumblings of PTP, but that was the last I heard.
I'm the dude whose thread got deleted, but Castrol sent me all of the info I posted in the thread and I'll be reposting it back up when I get a chance with pics. I never mentioned who did the work and I have yet to dyno it, as I'm still tweaking the injection system and so far it looks good with the new 16 gal/hr nozzle that David from CoolingMist sent me. More testing tonight and should be heading to the dyno on Saturday.
But, the turbo was ported, polished, compressor wheel upgrade, turbine wheel clip (a must because of the compressor wheel upgrade) and ceramic coated. I have had no issues with the upgrade and a few others have also gone this route. I have one guy in CT that is having it done right now.
Hope this helps.
I should have my s3 back here sometime next week.. I should be able to post some before and after pics if you guys want to see them.
It is going to a blast going from a stage 0 with bolt on to a modded stage 3 car with bolt on parts. I just hope a can run with some of the big boys when this is over and done with..
Hey has anyone with a stage 3 had an opportunity to run a c6 and if so what was the outcome?

I will once I put a few hundred miles on her! I'll take a ride up to Swift Motorsports to put her on their Dyno Dynamics. The DD reads allot lower then the other dyno units like the dyno jet and Mustang dyno but at the end of the day I would just like to have a bad ass torque curve..

Yeah Bob's work is great to say the least. The exhaust sound WAY meaner now to say the least. The main thing I really wanted was the outlet of the exhaust manifold bored so it match my maxxfabb better. Very nice

Before this I used to get full boost at 2700 - 2800 rpm. Like I said there's something the stock S3 wga doesnt like about the dcr mod. Not to sure what exactly it is and it's all just theory so far. S3 AGP WGA users with the DCR mod get full boost at the about he same rpm ( I think or maybe even sooner) and it comes on WAY harder than before.
When I first go stage 3 the "whir" (wheel noise) from the exhaust went away and the drill noise went away too. Well now it's back and louder than the stock turbo, which means the wheel is in fact spinning harder and much sooner than before, so the DCR mod's working. Once these S3 agp wga are back in stock we'll find out! I think most that have gotten the dcr mod already had the agp wga so there's really been no before and after's.
