Default Mapclamp in Cabin

For you guys that have your mapclamps inside the cabin, what gauge wire did you use to extend the wires on the mapclamp? I'm installing my wideband and mapclamp today and I want to be able to tune it w/o having to get under the hood to make adjustments. Thanks.

18 awg or 16 awg will be more than enough for a mapclamp.

This is where I mounted mine. I couldn't find a better place to run the wires that would allowed me to put it in the glove box, so I ended up putting it there. I tried to use strand wire too. I was worried the solid core wire would more likely break itself lose from vibration. Don't know if that is the case, but always what I have been told.

I wanna mount it inside the cabin because I don't wanna have to get out of the car to make adjustments to it, I can adjust it from the drivers seat while looking at my afr's at the same time

Yeah, I wasn't crazy about the location at first, but couldn't really find any place else to really "showcase" the item. Surprisingly tuning it by myself this weekend was a piece of cake and didn't have to pull over once. Had a screw driver in one hand and the wheel in the other.

Same reason he said too, but I was also worried on the affects weather would have on the item. I know the unit is sealed and probably watertight, but again I didn't want to risk mositure affecting something since it is a pretty important item. Again never heard of that issue, just for my own piece of mind.

I considered making my own as well. There were a few plans I found on the internet that were cut and dry and had testimony from the users. I opted to spend the $30 and get the support of DAS/Realtune if I had any questions or problems.

Same here, that's y I didn't make my own. if something goes wrong, Das can help me fix it or get me a new one. That, and I don't plan on using it too much longer anyway, I'm gonna be looking into an safc in the next couple months

Never thought of mounting inside, but that would be sweet to not have to pull over each and every adjustment...Just wonder if the extra wires create any type of resistance that will hurt effectiveness...I guess it would just take more adjustment with the added wires, and it would be fine eventually....Is this a legitmit arguement though, I would just see the extra length causing some possible issues...

Not that it wouldn't work, but you would have to change the voltage a little less since some voltage would be lost due to the resistance from the 3-4 ft. of extra wire...Maybe I am thinking too much...
