The engine I've got lined up is fully build, but the owner has sold/trashed/lost the intake, so I'll need one. Previously, engine supposedly made about 600hp, I'm only looking for 400ish whp. Would the stock intake be a restriction? Should I just get a ported stocker? Or is there a better option that's reasonably priced for what I'm doing?
If it is in there, I've over looked it and can't find it. There is mention of the PT accessories working (a/c, alt). But nothing about the intake, that I can find.
I used to have a PT Cruiser prior to my SRT so I can answer. There are two options for the PT Cruiser. One is aluminum, and one is composite (aka plastic) with built in rubber gaskets. Both of these mount on top of the valve cover as the PT didn't really have room to place the intake in front of the motor like on the SRT. The PT intake is said to produce more torque, but less horsepower. They also tend to get heat-soaked more because of their position on top of the motor.
Thanks for the info, I'm just looking for something to get me going at this point. Ultimately I'll be building one out of CF, at which point the composite might be better and easier to mold into.
Just so it's covered, there are more differences than just the intercooler and charge pipes. The long block is the same, but several of the accessories differ between the two.
