Well, that is because of your wastegate. All the boost controller does is hide a little more psi than your wastegate see's, that way you can run more boost.
Ex. If you have a wastegate set at 16psi and add a boost controller with it turned all the way down... Your car will still boost 16psi (would be like not having one). If you turn up the boost controller say... +5 psi you car will run 21 psi.
that's what i was thinking. i was talking to my buddy about that. I did test it out a while ago and wasn't sure. so i took it off. i'll have to throw it back on again.
Unless you are planning on running more boost, running the AGP wastegate without a boost controller is perfectly fine. If you want to turn up the boost, you can do it through the wastegate as well but it is much easier to do it with your boost controller
Another quick question. Lets say i turn my WGA down to about 5psi and have have my boost controller on and turn it down and up when i wanted to, would it hurt? Will it save gas?
Your going to run rich if you turn your boost down to 5psi. I wouldnt go any lower than factory psi.
Keeping it out of boost is the main way your going to save gas mileage.
I have a 60 trim on my car and dont get into boost till about 4000 RPM's... so it easy as hell for me to stay out of boost. Stock turbo cars are a little harder because they spool so damn fast. I get like 22mpg still on bigger turbo and 750cc injectors
