Let me begin by saying that I know for a fact what I'm about to ask has been beaten to death but there's soooo many threads on the forums that it becomes harder to find an answer some times....
Anyway, I know that a boost controller on a stock 05 pcm controlled car can't be used to bump the boost too much because it will throw a code, but I would like to know if there's a limit to that? Meaning, can i raise the boost to a certain point before making the pcm trip? I had an srt before in 05/06 (Im on my Second one) and I had a stage 1 pcm and a AGP waste gate.I'm not gonna say my car was super fast but it was quick. I have a boost controller that I got back when I had my first SRT-4 and I was an wondering if I could use it to make my car a little faster for now until I get around to purchase a dsp? Thanks...

I'm stock, and I have an agp wastegate also, wastegate will work as long as I don't go past 17psi? Whats the difference between a mbc and adjusting the boost with a wg on a stock car?

Throwing codes is primarily caused by going into too much boost at partial throttle (when the PCM isn't expecting it so it panics). It's not a problem to run an AGP WGA at the lowest spring tension then increasing boost with a MBC/EBC to sane levels (under 21psi) but the car just won't be very much fun to drive when you're not at wide open throttle. Personally, I'd just increase the pre-load on the AGP until you get the boost level you want and deal with the partial throttle overboost and ignore the code until you can get a stock\S2\FM WGA and a DSP. The only word of caution would be that without a wideband air/fuel gauge it's not going to be possible to know if the boost level you choose is safe for the engine or not (knock and high EGT is bad). The factory calibrations run pretty rich to begin with but without a gauge you won't know if the pump is putting out enough pressure, the fuel filter is clean, the injectors are clean, etc.

Thanks North! Your knowledge and input is always highly appreciated!...
So driving the car with the code on wouldn't make the car go into "safe mode" or anything like that? Will I still benefit from the higher boost?

Oh and I'm pretty sure it was clear but just in case....I have a turbo xs dual stage boost controller, and an AGP wastegate and they are NOT installed in the car.... besides my dp, exhaust, and blue plate, I'm completely stock...I even went back to the stock air box until I can find a replacement for the mopar intake elbow, can't find it anywhere :/

You could always sell those 2 things which would make your ability to get a diablosport tuner quicker. To run the AGP, you're gonna be messing with vac lines, and when you do get the diablosport, you'll just be putting them back on again. I say skip the oldschool WGA step and just focus on getting a wideband and tuner.

Naaa, it's just annoying to see the light. I drove around with it on for years with black electrical tape over it. :> Higher boost doesn't exactly translate into more power but running higher boost than the stock sensors can see will cause the PCM to run as much fuel as the calibration allows for a given PSI and air temp. From that point the higher boost will lean out the mix from the very safe, stock, rich setting to leaner where you'll pick up power. The DSP/I/T and a wideband on a light spring WGA using PCM control will always be the best way to go though. You'll make more power up top since you have the ability to tune it and the car will still be fun to drive when you're not at WOT.
