Regretfully, I can't continue as the SRT Nationals organizer.
We have everything set in place for the 2007 event, including website, online registration, banquet, track, 'lessons learned from 2006', and a list of volunteers.
What we need now is somebody to replace me, I have other responsibilities this year to take care of.
Yes, it comes with Mopar and Kicker sponsorship for the event.
It doesn't take a special person to pull it off, I proved that, but it does take someone dedicated to the community.
Reply here, or by PM if you are interested...
Regards,
Dale

Yeah, it's been difficult for me to make the right decision, Nationals is a special event and it's finally become successful. To continue to grow, it needs new people with fresh ideas.
It's a complete event, all the contacts have been made, it's just a matter of promotion and keeping things on track. It's very tempting to me to just continue, but I'm not able to devote the time to promotion.
I see the event promotion as being the most important part. Eric (Gargoile) has stepped up to be a big part of the promotional team, but he's going to need help.
I can continue being part of the organizational team, and will if requested.
The event is on target for it's planned growth, last year saw a huge improvement in attendance and quality. That was well recognized by the magazines and presenting sponsors. Kicker will have people at the event this year manning the Registration building and helping out where needed (PA System for example), so I expect that the event will continue to improve.
Between now and the event however, I am unable to commit the time required to make it all happen myself. I am building a car for the event, a true Modern Mopar. Also, I'm traveling nearly every weekend with my son supporting his kart racing. Those two activites, combined with real life, and One Lap, and Targa prep, mean that I am not the best person for the job.
If nobody decides to replace me, I'll have to cancel the event, which would be a shame considering the level of support it has achieved.
By the way, this is also the perfect opportunity for someone who would really like to see the event happen someplace other than Kansas to make that happen. I can help with that as well.
Sorry to hear this Dale. I wish I was man enough to take this on.
Maybe a team effort instead of one person is need, like a board of directors. Just a thought.

I feel that this is the best option. IT sounds like Nats is to much for one person to handle. If this is what happens I would be willing to through in my hat to help.
I am always willing to help with what I can, but I don't have the resources or time to head it up. I am still working on the dyno and triathlon info and setup, but even that is slow because of my work hours and everything else I have my hands in.
Dale I appreciate your honesty and integrity in letting the community know what is up, but you will be hard to replace. Thanks for bringing us this far and keeping with it for as long as you have. Of course your continued help is wanted and as much of it as you can give. lol

How many of our country's problems could be solved – and solved quickly – if politicians were more worried about what is good for our country rather than how to protect their positions of power?

A BoD is what is needed at this point. The event is much bigger than a meet, and while it can be done by one person, it would be a better event with 3 or 4 dedicated and responsible people.
The banquet responsiblity is already fully delegated out to Ted Harris at Mopar Supercenter. His experience in the Rick Hendrick Motorsports organization will make that part of the event much better than it was last year.
Of course, I can still help out, probably best area for me remains corporate (big and small) sponsorship for the event.
Not to put them on the spot, but if the CSC guys were able to pick up responsibility for event promotion/registration, it would go a long way toward relieving the pressure.
I'll talk to Erik today more about becoming the project manager. He has valid concerns, but plans put in place for this year already should allieviate most of them.
Marlon, you and the guys at ELMM have been a huge help all along, don't discount that. Without the website hosting, online registration, and credit card capability, the 2006 event would not have happened. You will have to be on the BoD.
Again, it is not too late to change the venue for the event. If IRP or Gateway look better to a BoD, I will support the move. We'll lose an appreciable amount of deposit money in Kansas with the hotel, but it's not a deal breaker yet.
