I was wondering if that could be done in advance of the event then posted on the website. Number each pairing then give the instructor a sign or sticker badge with that number on it and we can go to them before the driver's meeting. That would save time Thursday morning getting everyone together and help get us out on the track a little sooner.
Also, if we got the first session cars to grid before the meeting then each pair could go straight to the car after the meeting to get things going. I know the driver's numbers got changed at the last minute making it difficult for the instructor to identify their student, so maybe this pre-pairing could help smooth out the process.

All of that did happen, but I screwed up by being too nice and allowing people to break the schedule in 2006. Many, many people decided at the last minute to not drive, and substituted in someone, or drew from the waiting list, which messed up all of the pairings. That would have been solved by Brian the night before the event, but our scheduled tech inspectors did not bother so show up for tech inspection Wednesday night, so the correct paperwork was not able to be given to Brian that night. Trust me, he asked for it, about a dozen times....
Then, only three drivers arrived on time on Thursday morning, most arrived after 7am, which added another hour delay. None of the drivers who needed tech on Thursday arrived on time, well before 7am, and that caused even more problems.
That won't happen again in 2007. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the schedule on the website, it will be adhered to, and people who are late will sit out at least one session, maybe more. It's rough, and harsh, but it's how it's done at all HPDE events, and now I know why.

Hey dale does a list still exist for who our instructors where this year? I can't remember for the life of me what the guys name was. He drove the red srt4 without graphics during the instructor sessions. I would love to get some post Nat's feedback from him on how he thought i did, and if i improved at all.

Randy, According to the list, your instructor was Mark Jorgensen.
I know that the assignments got mixed up. Just reading from the INSTRUCTOR/STUDENTS ASSIGNMENTS sheet.
Ya i know Mark had a family emergency and another guy. Stepped in. I believe his first name was Greg, but don't qoute me. lol
Greg Wright is the only Greg on the instructors list but he is listed as Ron's (Daytonagts)instructor. You both were in the Green group. Ask Ron who his instructor was.

I was Randy's instructor. I kept my helmet on until the end of the day. Boy was he surprised but then I told him I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express the night before so he was OK with it.

I was wondering why you kept saying to slow down, and keep the tires off the grass.
No problem Dale i was just hoping you might know him.

I can't imagine they'd have the time. SRTE is in on a pretty aggressive schedule it seems like. They were in Topeka 2 weeks before Nationals this year. Not to be rude, but honestly I don't think they could offer us anything we don't already have. The driving talent on this past year's instructor roster was mind-boggling.
I agree totaly. No other group of car enthusists in the world get taugh how to drive on a race track by the best pro's in the cars they drive. I mean we are talking about World Challange pro drivers......teaching you how to drive better. And for free!!!!!!!!!!!! Most amazing show of passion about automotive motor sports ever!!
