Default Nationals schedule change proposal

One of the top complaints (besides my lack of ability to operate a PA system properly) from the 2006 Nationals was that it was not possible to participate in everything offered in the time allowed.

A lot of discussion has occurred since the event, and an idea has come from it. It is just an idea, it would require a lot of logistical changes, but it is an idea.

Please vote on the proposal, I'd like to make an informed decision by the end of January.

The current schedule has the autocross and drag racing running at the same time during the day.

Thursday is Roadcourse Day, Carshow Day
Friday is Drag Race qualifying (testntune) day, Autocross Day, Carshow day, Quick-8 night.
Saturday is Autocross day, Bracket Drag Day, Carshow Day, Banquet Night.

Proposed schedule follows
Thursday- Roadcourse Day, Carshow Day, Bracket Drag Race Night
Friday- Autocross Day, Qualify/Test-n-tune (start at noon) drag racing, Carshow Day, Quick-8 Drag race night
Saturday- Autocross day, Grudge(testntune) Drag Racing (starting at noon), Carshow day, Banquet Night

Basically, the change involves delaying the opening of the dragstrip until noon on Friday and Saturday. Bracket Racing is moved to Thursday night.

The dragstrip was underutilized in the mornings, we'd be shhifting that time to the evenings when drag racing is a lot mor fun anyway.

We're also trying to figure out a better time and location for the band to play. I like the idea of having them play Friday night in front of the grandstand during the quick-8 races, but that is very much open to debate.

See you in Topeka!
Dale

Also, the break between "day" and "night" is 5pm. It would probably take an hour to get the dragstrip functional after shutting down the roadcourse on Thursday.

Regards,
Dale

I like the idea of shifting some of it to the evening. I found that last year after everyone ate some dinner, they were eager to go find some action.

I will say that it would've been nice to have the PA system used more often. Especially to draw attention to some place or activity (ie: in 5 minutes DCR will be doing an exhibition run down the drag strip...). Also updates on the race results as the day progresses (Ie: Woodhouse's competion viper just turned in the fastested lap time of the day ...) I also found that the PA system used points towards the pits, show area can't be heard in the grandstands at the drag strip?

Thanks for all your effort to constantly make this event better & better!

Sounds like a good change for the better. But i was tired a lot last year after each day so making the day longer....... might really wear a person down. After three days of racing from 7am to 11 pm then drinking till 2 am cause..........well that is what we do. The start all over again.

I think its a great idea. Sure everyone was tired after a full day of events, but think of it this way randy. I think most people were tired not only from the events, but from the heat wave that was coming through. With the change for evening events it will allow the air to be cooler for us all! Plus maybe cut down on your drinking at the bar I will have earplugs this time.

Yes getting old does weird things to people.

I like the new proposed schedule. The temps at night might just be a few deg lower at night. We could see better times run on the drag strip. Besides I have always liked evening drags better than mid-day drags.

I couldn't do both of the bracket drags and autocross. I lost out on one of the events, But the new proposed schedule will give everyone the chance.

How many of our country's problems could be solved – and solved quickly – if politicians were more worried about what is good for our country rather than how to protect their positions of power?

We'll pitch a text at the event "COY'S PUB" so we all know where you will be. I hear parking at this pub is very limited.
