well after reading thats it's done. I think alot of people still want the nationals. I was kinda surprised more people arn't ranting and raving about it being gone. someone else going to speak up?
The people that were hardcore enthusist simply moved on... now that you can pick up a srt4 for around 12k, for the most part those individual that have now picked up the car don't have the interest to put such an effort to travel a distance to meet people and participate in such a event.
I have traveled a combine distance of about 5,000+ miles just for the SRT Nationals, and i know for sure that there are plenty of other that have traveled that distance if not MORE to come and have a good time. They seem to be few and very far between now a days.
I will always remember those that i have met at the SRT Nationals in Louisiana. Those that i have met in Topeka, and those that i have met in Memphis... It is really too bad if it actually is over. Its a really difficult event to try to put on when you put so much on the line and then get a less then expected turn out for what ever reason.

so, ur truley saying that the car is dead
The car is not dead... just the enthusiest behind the car.... Yes, things always come up in life... but when you have 56,000+ members on this site... and you only get 30-40 cars tops at a event that had been planned all year... Now i know that there was a date change which hurt a lot of peoples chances on attending..... Still... Lets assume that only 25% of those accounts on this site are even interested in meeting... that only 14000 user... Now, on a event gets talked about for a year in advance... out of that 25%, you would think that you could get at least 1% out of that.... thats only 140 cars... I can see why the organizers of the event no longer want to put up so much risk when there just isn't the support.

wow...i didnt know that it was that low of numbers....that sux tho!! well anyone want to buy a well taken care srt-4? mine is forsale!!
I agree... but i love to travel and meet new people... I'm from CSC and we have gatherings every week for our group and events.... however, we try to get 15 cars to go every year to Nationals, we had 15 in Louisana, 13 in Topeka, and 11 in Memphis. Last week we have 5 cars go to Canada for the Canadian SRT Nationals... I know not everyone is able to make such trips, but we thought that you make any of them it would be the yearly Nationals. You end up making great friends, we did, which is why we ended up in Canada.
Over the years ive met alot of the members on this forum through various events held around the country, yet i still havent had the priviledge to own an SRT4 although i spend alot of time modding, repairing and racing them. Of ALL the nats that have been held in the past i was unable to attend one, the second one held in louisiana. I was there for the first and was there for the last but wish the show would go on but as was said above the hardcore people have moved on. This year alone i made the trek to Ohio with Dansrt4 for the midwest event only to turn around less than 3 weeks later and end up at Mopars at The track in my own Neon. I had planned to make it to the canadian event but lack of documentation to cross the border and paid time off to use kept me at home. I personally dont mind traveling distances to do what i enjoy and meet people who share my passion but it seems that as time passes and the new generation of automotive afficianados goes....the passion is loosing its edge.
I was once amongst people like on this forum who were very hardcore about road racing, auto crossing and even the ocassional drag racing but now its boiled down to people who only care about street racing, bragging rights and know nothing about what their car (Dodge SRt4) did for the domestic sport compact scene let alone the fact that Neons have their own place in american grassroots motorsports history.
I thank all of the CSC guys for showing the rest of the SRT community what a bunch of gearheads can do when they are really passionate about their vehicle/community. On the same token i have to say the rest of the midwest crew deserves mention....all you guys are pretty hardcore in comparison to the laid back atmosphere we have here down south. My neon ended up getting to take trip back from memphis on a dolly as the stock clutch with all 110k miles gave up after almost 7 hours of road course abuse. I had a blast then and every year prior despite the drama and uncertainty....
Thank you Dale Seeley, i respect you greatly eventhough we often butt heads and your tolerance levels go right out the window in my presence
To the rest of you who are new around here...search and take the time to read what a wonderfull time was had before you bought your car and brought along ignorance to a once hardcore group of owners. That i dont thank anyone for except those parents who refused to show their kids the basics of the gearhead world or those brilliant drivers/techs/fabricators/tuners who are so caught up in themselves for not caring to pass along the gift/art that was passed onto you. People...we are dwindelling because of selfishness and ignorance not because people are moving on, as such i have made it my point to not be like everyone else...

Well I seriously think that srtforums as a group needs to do something. Why not tray and rent a track for the weekend and start from the ground up and do it. I think thats the most important part about this forums is the people and they need to get out from the computer for a weekend and see it all in person! I'm going to go watch tv with all my friends by myself.

I would go the event no matter where it was. If you try to organize it you will find that it takes alot of time, money and dedication. Now realize that there was probably 10x as many people that said they would come for sure, and then didn't register or show up.... That is the problem, everyone is in, until it actually happens. I drove to Memphis this year and it was around 2800 miles one way.
I signed up for the Memphis Show and paid for the whole deal including $524.00 for the Ferry ride.
Unfortunatly my involvement in the startup of the $8,000,000 seafood processing facility here became more of a priority than the show. It was a wise decision on my part because of the poor turnout this year at the MATT from the SRT-4 boys.
I was able to retrieve the Ferry ticket money but I decided to let the fee for the MATT-Show ride for a year, in hopes of a better schedule in 2008. Perhaps that was not such a wise decision.
At any rate, I have always enjoyed the company of other owners whenever I have ever got together with them.
I hope to surprise some unknowing local meet sometime with my presence. That would be fun!

P.M. Me for details on installs, maintenance, and repair work in the North Georgia Area.
Fate kept biting me in the ass. I was at the very first one, moved to Phoenix during the second one, had a block fail shortly before the third, and had my wife's grandmother pass away a week before this years.
I would still go in a heartbeat, but good luck finding someone to organize it. I was shocked that Dale did it this year, after the previous year's fiasco, but he's a trooper, and a true enthusiast for this platform and racing in general.
My advice: start locally, get a few track days in with owners in a 2-3 state area. If you build up interest, the possibility of a National meet may surface again.
