Ya I think they are updating it little by little...
I did like the Idea of paying one price and just be able to do what ever you liked to do................
I'm testing out the idea some people had of making it a single fee with access to everything except the roadcourse. Since the road course can only handle about 80 entrants, it has to be separate.
Also hoping to make the autox be a two day (same course) event alongside the drag racing.
Pretty soon the new graphic will be release of the website, it's pretty cool...

Registration is scheduled to begin in Early September again. We learned a lot this past year about the on-line store method of pre-registration, and have come up with a few ways to further streamline it.
Costs on the website today may, or may not be indicative of the actual pre-registration costs in September. First the involvement of Presenting Sponsor(s) needs to be nailed down.
One idea that was presented after the banquet that is not on the website yet is an additional 'Worker Fee' applied to every Participant (and to a lesser amount) Spectator registration. That fee would be refunded to the volunteer who completed his/her committment to the event. It could also be assumed that some people would not report to their assignments, or more likely, would choose ahead of time to not help out with the administration of the event. That 'extra' money would be dived among the volunteer staff.
Currently, 87 staff positions have been identified for the 2007 event, during the four days of the event. Some require a bit of experience, most would be 'on-the-job-training'. Some examples would be the team of 9 to 11 announcers required man the PA system during the event, Tech Inspectors for the driving events, and a team of Registrars to sit in an air conditioned building outside the track gates sipping margaritas all day long....
The intention of the worker fee idea is to reward people for signing up ahead of time for a specific position, and then showing up to perform it. Penalty for not showing up would be small ($20), reward could be pretty good depending on turn-out for the event. No plan has been determined to reward people who jump from thankless job to thankless job like NeonDan yet, but we're still in the early concepting stages.
I think worker fees aren't a good or feasible idea. With your 'one fee' concept what happens to those who don't wish to participate in autocross? You'll be charging them extra fees twice for an event they don't even want to do; once by bundling their share of the cost into the registration fee, then a penalty fee again for not working it. I don't care for the one fee concept either. I imagine it's easier for the event's accounting but it doesn't favour the registrant who isn't going to participate in all the judged events.
Perhaps you might consider offering simply a bit of a discount to those who register in autox, car show, and drag race, but still offer registration to each seperately. That way you aren't making anyone pay for events they don't want, but at the same time still encouraging fuller participation by charging less for a package deal than it would cost to register for all three events seperately.
Maybe you could entice people to complete worker assignments through reward incentives rather than by threat of penalty. Some low-cost incentives might be:
- %5 discount coupons from participating sponsor
- limited-print t-shirts w/ multiple sponsor buy-in through advertising
- vip access to sponsor thrill rides on the road coarse/autocross
- ? laps of instruction on the autocross by willing sponsor of your choice
People like NeonDan could get one reward per thankless job.
Dale, I think the AutoX, Roadcourse and Dragstrip should be seperate. The attrition to tires and suspension is pretty heavy especially if participants are going to drive 1500 miles back home on the same tires they destroyed on the AutoX and Dragstrip. If you make it through the event "accident" free, that's fine, however we always have to prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
I would like the opportunity to select events based on what I can afford to replace while I'm out there.
Let me know when you have an hour or so of "free" time. We need to get a game plan together for 2007! Excited to be a part of the process for next year's Nats!!
