, surprised to read that less then 100 people have signed up so far. I wasn't able to make it last year, but I have been looking forward to going since, the guys who could go got back, last year.
I'd think all these SRT owners would be lining up for an event like this where they have a chance to show off all the work they have put into their vehicle, whether that be at the track, the drag strip or the car show.
Other events I have attended usually have a 100 people in the first one or two days, not 3 or 4 months. However, those events usually have some incentive for signing up early. For example, one re-occurring event I attend all the sponsors provided some small item in a "random" amount which went into "loot bags". Since, some sponsors could only donate 50 or 100 of some item those who signed up first got the most "free" stuff. That event had a count down to registration opening because everyone want to be the first registrant because it meant the most free stuff. This helped meet the needs of covering costs of the deposits for the location, hotel, etc., and avoided last minute sign-ups.
However, I guess without incentive people will always wait for the last minute. Some people have the, "Why should I provide my money early when I can wait to the last minute then pay" attitude. It sucks, but some times unless there is something to gain by signing up early most people just choose not to sometimes until it is too late.
I really hope the event doesn't get canceled, as this is probably the only year I'll be able to go, but I completely understand if it does as someone has to pay the bills.

Personally the raffle items and mopar displays are secondary to the racing and general socialization. Having some of the new product is great, but I'm not certain how necessary the srt hauler was last year. The sponsors/vendors had more than enough to look at. I wonder if they would consider just the print advertising, and maybe get w/ Gina @ Dodge Motorsports and see if she's got anything for us!
Maybe a combined effort??
Because I see the different Mopar haulers a couple times evey year, I also don't mind if it doesn't show up, but... not everybody has seen them all and it is important. Otherwise Mopar would not invest all of that money into the haulers, their crews, and the schedule.
Regardless, without people there to see the vendor and sponsor displays, there is no need for the vendor and sponsor displays. That's something that you, as an event sponsor, certainly can agree with.
The event can survive without Mopar, if there is participation, but can it survive without Kicker? If Mopar is not there, what is the Business Interest for Kicker to invest in the event? Kicker has carried the event, literally, since Day One, if we can't show Kicker that we are serious about the event they really have no option but to drop it. If they drop it, entry fees will easily be doubled, and we still won't make rent...
Participation is the only way to save the event. The organizing committee has done everything they could. It's up to the participants now.

I missed last year because I didn't take the initiative to get involved and hated myself for not going. I have registered for this year and will be there. If there are not enough people and this gets cancelled, I would most likely go on a rampage Come on people, let's get signed up and make this happen!
Please Sign Up People!
I don't want to be stuck here all summer long. I need to get off the Rock. I want to run the road course with S3r and good tires and I want to get better than a 14.0 run down the strip. and have dinner at hooters and good breakfasts at the ramada and visit with all of my friends and....and.....and....... Please sigh up

I stated in the cdn forum that I would sign up for the nats.. but I dun wanna sign up unless I have a confirmed roommate or a few for the room. I dont care if there's 4 guys in the room. I'll bring my own sleeping bag + pillow and sleep on the floor. Nothing will wake me up, not even a whistle or a bang or a screaming girl cuz Im a deaf mofo w/o my hearing aid.
Im 150% for sure Im going to the nats.. just need a roommate first.. so..
Sorry for the rest you out here, I have been out for the last two days with work. I know thats no excuse.
Anyways, This event is about you. Remember how it all got started.... We all wanted to have a place that we could run are cars and enjoy the company of others that have the same passion with our cars...hence the Nationals was born.
The best people to help promote this event are the ones that have been there. Even more are the people that have gone to every event since 2004 ( seems like only yerterday ). As they can say that every year it has been better, bigger and have had a great time and meeting more people every year that they look forward to meeing again at the next event. I know you'll always hear, you won't know unless you go from the gang but it is true. There can be videos, pictures and all the stories but it will never due it justice.
We are at the point where this will either die a slow death or become a new yearly event. I hope the later will be. I have had each year a great time at the events, and also meeting everyone here and have made new friends that I would have never had the chance to meet if it wasn't for this event.
Dale's points are very valid if you think in terms of running a business. We need the vendors and the vendors need you. Its a two way street. If we can't do that, then we can't put this event on for you. So help us help you, and please sign up for the event and get some friends to come as well.
