Hows about an update? We all know you are doing this with the rest of the CSC in your spare time and not really getting paid for it and we all appreciate it but.........
Think it will come out soon or is it just going to turn into the 06-07 double feature?

Apparently that is all you have to do to make that claim.
Indeed.
I'm sure they're doing all they can, COY!
Maybe after their Bears win the superbowl there will be more time to concentrate on the businiss at hand.
Oh, and to the spelling freaks, notice how I used the 3 proper spellings of "there"
CSC ran into problems with computing power... They have the video sequenced and ready to go, but a full length production requires more power than 90 second street racing videos. It's one of those exponential growth problems.
They've agreed to ship everything off to the video production side of LER for final cut and render, soon it will be available online for free download as an advertisement for the 2007 event.
CSC still did the majority of the work, and they build computers in an attempt to handle the size and volume, but it just kept growing. Kinda like the early attempts at producing Onelap video from the tracks, it's easy to become overwhelmed...

Free download?? Not a DVD as was origanly thought? Maybe i am miss reading that.
I know a lot of people (mostly Dale) had a problem with how SR Vids did the 05 Nat's DVD, but ya know what. It was professional styley, done and for sell in the same year the event happened, and they brought camera's to mount in cars to get footage. I reccomind they be asked to attend and handle the video efforts for 2007 for the good of everyone and the footage quality at the end.

I never saw the SR Vids production. I also never heard anything good other than, "It's not bad" about it.
The CSC guys tried hard, and almost finished the project, they just ran out of computer. LER owns what CSC was lacking and is finishing the project. Burning it to a DVD is no problem, I suppose we could do that for a fee for those who don't have their own burners. That fee will be significant though, the Street Racing folks learned the hard way that using a cheap PC burner and software package results in most customers receiving unplayable discs. We use the same equipment that the pros use, but we're not making tens of thousands of copies, yet...
Street Racing Videos did not ask to be part of the project last year, and after their customer service problems, I wasn't looking for them. CSC has no customer service problems, they are volunteers who were working during the event, and working after the event, and deserve the thanks for their efforts.
LER Productions is picking up the project this year. We've cancelled our One Lap of America video project and are concentrating on developing the storyboards and what-nots required to make an 07 video that meets our standards. We are finishing the 06 video as a 'Thank-you' to CSC and those who attended last year, and an encouragement to those who might attend this year. There is no reason to associate a cost with the video, it was, and is, a labor of love. We look forward to continuing to work with CSC on this project and others during 2007. They care about the event, and the SRT brand.
I'm sure DVD burners are commonplace these day but I would venture to say that there are number of folks out here that are still running WIN98 that have no capability of that option. I for one would love to see a "HARD" copy of the Nats Vid. It will be nice to be able to view it for free on the Nats webpage as well.
I might have to upgrade to one of these new-fangled "VISTA" Thingy-ma-bobbers, eh?

We'll look at the cost of producing actual DVD's. The difficulty is not in using a PC DVD burner, it's finding one system that works will most commercially available home DVD players. It's a lot more difficult than one would expect, as many found out with the 2005 version.
I have actually found it hard now to just get the raw material, I am extremely sorry for the long delay but as mentioned we don't have the computing power to make the full movie.
I was going to get another computer, but I just ran into other problems in my life.
This has really made me very disappointed that we couldn't get this done as promised, but most of the footage has been converted and put onto one hard drive. There are about 7 tapes that would still need to be ripped and my camera was the only one that could play them.
Because I am not the one with the ability to rip movies or produce a good quality movie on my computer I couldn’t rip the footage I had.
Enough with the excuses, we will get this done just now we need help and have been very slow to ask for any.
I do take full responsibility for this... There are reasons for things being the way that are at the current moment. In the end, we are still at the same point reguardless of the reasons, with out a DVD.
I said i was to deliver something, and i have not.
With that said, it was a labor of love, trust me. No one more then me wanted a different outcome then where we are at, and for that I am sorry.

Honestly, I don't see what the big deal is... Volunteers don't get paid, it's wrong to hold their feet to the fire over something that nobody else is willing to do. It was simply a bigger undertaking than CSC expected, but the only way to learn that was through experience.
It's not like their efforts were wasted either. We are in the process of transferring all of the data electronically to the video production side of LER where the project will be completed.
Even more importantly, we can look at what was gathered and from that, draw an expectation of the quality and quantity of footage that we can expect to gather from participants this year. Unfortunately, it seems that the participants have very little to offer from their own cameras, just a few people were able to step up and provide CSC with footage. To those people, we are also grateful.
This year, we'll be able to go after specific shots, follow a schedule, and reduce the randomness of the footage. It's a model that worked for Onelap, it will work for Nationals. Of course, having a swimsuit contest and wandering models will help too...
I don't think Flo or Stuey need to apologize for anything. At least they tried.
