Default Widening stock Magnum SRT-8 wheels

Quite a few guys in the Impala SS world have taken the factory 17x8.5 to 17x10.5 to allow 315/35-17's to fit. I'm curious if anybody has looked at available space behind the factory 20x9 rear wheel for a 1.5" additional wheel width. 315/35-20 rear with 275/40-20 tires would be a great setup for these cars as oppossed to the skinny 245 and 255 setup.
Could anybody take some pictures of their Magnum SRT-8 frame to wheel clearance so I can start my planning...

I'm looking at my wife's annual bonus as a down payment and trading in the 04 SRT-4 for the Magnum SRT8 in early 06. I like to plan well in advance for mods and traction would be the first consideration for me.

I will have to throw my tape on it, but my visual inspection says that you won't be able to take the wheels out very far. There appears to be ~2" between the inner tire sidewall and the shock.

There used to be a company in Scotsdale that would widen factory wheels. I knew somebody that has some F-body wheels widened by them. They did good work, I wished I could remember who it was.

I couldn't find a quick reference to the place most of the Impala guys use - 2 different styles.
1. is http://www.weldcraftwheels.com/ who welds in a section from another wheel
2. is Vaughn machine - http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/par...ned/index.html - for an example - that welds in the back half of a wider aftermarket wheel.
3. is http://internetalternatives.com/wshoppe/wwiden.htm who does wheel widening as well.

I'll defnitely be doing this even if it's just for 10's as 315/35's will easily fit on a 10 and have a good cross section.
