The Rapid Transit System was an advertising campaign in the 70`s.I believe 70-71 but not sure on the dates. I have a lot of information about it. The R/T on dodge`s stands for Road/Track or Road and Track.

SRT means "Street Racing Technology" so I would assume that RT means "Racing Technology".

ROAD/TRACK is the official answer as far as I know......this designation dates back to the 60's however.....at which time "Rapid Transit" was also a Mopar slogan. But Rapid Transit was associated with Plymouth more than Dodge, and Plymouth has never sold an "R/T" model as far as I know.

im from that R/T age and the R/T did stand for road/track the GTX stood for grand/touring exsperimental RR was road runner SC was super coupe on the 76 dodge aspens
