Post Introduction

Hello,

after posting a couple private messages here 2slow4das suggested I introduce myself. Frankly, after registering on so many LX platform bulleting boards, I am not sure where I have said hi and where I have only lurked!

On all of the forums I have registered with the same name as here, GasGunR. The name actually has nothing to do with cars but pertains to a firearm sport that I have competed in for the last 18 or so years.

I have on order a '06 SRT-8 Magnum. Brilliant Black, Options I, II, III, Sunroof, Side airbags, all weather tires. It was ordered on 13 Sep 05, and joined most of these forums in my quest to try and see if and when it would be built, but now I am more interested in finding out more information on the LX platform. There is so much more to learn.

Mopar addict since I was a youth, the kid up the street had a 70 Satelite 383 4 speed, He offered to sell it to me when I joined the service, the car was perfect, green with torque thrusts, but too much money for me at the time. All my friends had Mopars, A, B and Ebodies, B Body bigblocks and A nd E body smallblocks. One guy in town had a Black Hemi Cuda but it was the rare Friday night that you would see it out and rumor had it that he couldnt drive it well enough to a Volkswagon. My first car was a '62 Dodge Dart, a former Washington State Police Interceptor or so I was told. It was very a bigblock car, pushbutton auto, 15" wheels, 11" drums, clean, no dents or rust and FAST!!!

My second car was purchased in West Germany. I was 17 years old and I bought a '68 RO80. How many of you know what one of those were? I drove it on the autobahn with the gas on the floor, it was like having a cruise control at 240 clicks perhour. What a fun car, automatic stick shift, hmmmmm, wankle, dual carbs, dual exhaust, dual points each running its own coil and pair of spark plugs.

Since then I have owned quite a few cars, and only a couple have not been Mopars. Van's, Pickups, SUV's but no more performance cars, although I know very well that the 2000 Durango 4.7 AWD shuts off at 113MPH. Work MAKES me drive a Trailblazer, the 2005 model shuts off at 105, (the 2003 one shut off at 108...). Before anyone flames me I do ALOT of very rural driving and only do this in area's where I am VERY familiar with the road and LACK of traffic.

By the way, I have had ONE speeding ticket in my life so far... 64 in a 55 on a 4 lane divided highway.

Oh yea, one more thing, I live 3 miles away from the Chicagoland Speedway, they have a very fast drag strip there and a 1 1/2 mile oval where they host Nascar and Indy car races. So... its hard not to get the bug.

Thanks,

Don
