The SRT8 production started in the first week of September. A few already should be at the local dealership - usually the larger dealership will get them first and depending regional marketing strategy.

Though, for those car performance fanatics (hint - force induction) I would caution them in waiting. It may due to the tranny currently in use.

Steve, are you really hinting at a forced induction 6.1? And how far out. Please clearly label all 07 MY rumours and hints, since that is what I'll be getting. )

Not yet far I do know. Though, the only rumor is the SRT truck. Still haven't seen it or heard anything more than the rumor mill.

The tranny is pathetic above 450-500 rwHP range before going BANG. Latest force induction can propel this car to 605-rwHP range.

I thought a trannys point of failure would be too much torque not too much HP? Isn't it the amount of torque that the torque convertor and gears can handle reliably, high HP really shouldn't matter. Also, isn't the trans the same 5 speed mb trans that amg used to use in the supercharged v8s or atleast something close? I know the old 5.9 trannys had problems(Martin Saine took care of me with mine) but I didn't think dodge was having problems with the new ones.

ND40oz.... Repeat after me...
HP is a fuction of Torque
HP is a fuction of Torque
HP=f(Tq) (for those of you who speak geek in here. )

Now tattoo that on your forehead backwards so you can read it in the mirror every day.

If the tranny is "pathetic" at the rwhp numbers hemidakota is stating, then you can be assured it's seeing torque values at least at but more likely greater than that.

Dude, I know how HP and Torque work. What I'm saying is you don't need high torque to make high horsepower, look at any honda. When you look at an automatic trans, you worry about how much torque it can handle not HP. I was just asking how much torque these trannys can handle because I will be purchasing a SRT8 Magnum and the gsmotorsports supercharger and I want to know if the tranny can handle the torque. Get off your soap box and answer a question, if you don't know the answer then don't bother wasting bandwidth.

that is why they need smaller gears (hence - drag gears of 4.X or bigger) to get the car to launch bside the high-revving.

Toyota I come to noticed has been applying more torque in their cars lately.

So do you think the tranny is good enough for blown applications or will it see premature failure, like my durangos at 60k miles?
