Chrysler 300C Touring with 3.0L V6 CRD

A Chrysler 300C Touring passed us on our trip from the airport to the hotel on Sunday, and we all rubbernecked as the wagon zoomed by. A 300C wagon? Yup, Europe’s got one and it’s basically a Magnum with a 300C front end. It’s an odd sight to those who haven’t seen it before, but it’s been a decent seller for Chrysler abroad ranking about sixth among E-segment cars with gas-powered engines. Chrysler is hoping the 300C and 300C Touring gain ground, however, with the addition this year of a 3.0L turbodiesel V6 that generates 215 hp and a class-leading 376 ft-lb of torque. The new diesel is able to propel the 300C to 62 mph in 7.9 seconds. The new motor is a welcome addition to the already robust lineup of gas-powered engines that include the company’s 5.7L Hemi V8. In a segment where diesels account for 70% of sales, however, this move was a must for Chrysler.

It is a good look, and might supplant the Magnum if they decided to build it. I have had friends in Europe ask how inexpensive they were in the States, and I had to tell them the car was only available to them and not to us. I like the look and actually wish we could convince DC to build and send down South ( from Brampton to the US ).
