I did a little searching, but couldn't find anyone with this issue. This happened about four or five times over the weekend (just got the car last Thursday). I was shifting up through the gears, nothing aggresive, just driving normally, and the shifter kept getting caught when shifting into fifth. Let me go into more detail. I'd take it out of fourth gear and into neutral, but when I went to push the stick to the right, it wouldn't move.
Now, I'm coming from a 99 Sentra with a shifter sloppier than Madonna's private parts , so at first I just figured I wasn't used to such an exact shifter. Thought maybe I was getting stuck pushing it too far up into third gear territory. That was until yesterday when I was cruising in fourth and needed to haul it. So I depress the clutch, blip the gas, and proceed to shift into second...but to no avail. It stuck just like when I was going into fifth. The problem isn't a permanent thing (thank god), once I let the stick go back into dead center in neutral and/or wiggle it a tiny bit, it goes into gear no problem. I thought maybe it was the shift selector or the TOB since I read that these cars have issues with them, but it doesn't seem to be the case from what I have read.
I'd take it to the dealer to take a look at it since it still has a warranty, but the car is still in the process of being registered so I'm not sure if that would be an issue or not. Any help would be fantastic.

1. Change the Tranny fluid, I recommend Amsoil ATF+4 WITHOUT friction Modifier. There is a lot of debate on what tranny fluid but i highly highly recommend NOT using the Mopar Friction modifier because it breaks down the tranny fluid and Quaife (the makers of our LSD) say is isnt needed at all!
2. Check your clutch adjustment. There is a How-To on adjusting the throw of your clutch in the how to section. If someone set it up so its shorter, it may not be engaging all the way in the gears that need it more (i.e. fifth, aggressive downshifts etc.) This is common and very easy to do.. takes about 2 minutes
3. Check your bushings. If you have a really short throw shifter and booger bushings, i would highly recommend changing to stock bushings. if you have a stock shifter and stock bushings, i would recommend switching to booger bushings. you can get booger bushings from many of the vendors on here and you can get stock bushings from the maker of the best shifter available for our car () Maddog.
These three things are the cheapest and most common ways to go about checking into your problem so i would recommend trying them first!
1. I'll def. look into it. The car just rolled over 8300 miles, but I was going to look into the manual today to see what the maintenance schedule was like.
2. I'll def. check into this as well. I'm pretty sure it wasn't messed with, but it wouldn't hurt.
3. The car is bone stock, so the bushings should help. They did on the Sentra. However, I was going to go w/ a short shifter eventually, so perhaps it'd be a waste of money to do the bushings? Don't know. I know they're cheap, but I don't want to spend any money on something I don't really need to, you know?
Thanks for the input! I'll see what I can do when I get home tonight.
Edit: Maddog makes the best shifters, eh? I was going to go w/ Mopar, but maybe I'll look into this...

i used to have mopar but i changed for maddog and wow! all i can say is Rod Brake FTMFW!
Yeah, I just read up on a couple threads (all of which Maddog was pimped out like a mofo). Totally going w/ the 80% and taking your advice to stay w/ stock bushings since the SRT is my fun car, not my daily. Need to check w/ the local stealerships about the AMSOIL though, I've read that people have had their warranty voided just by not using their recommended oil. Rediculousness (sp?).
