no dipstick, stick your finger in the fill hole to check the level. it takes atf+4 with a friction modifier

From the FSM (page 21-97) 2.4 -2.6 quarts. Fluid level should be within 3/16 of the fill hole.

2.5 quarts of ATF4.

Believe it or not, I've tried Amsoil and Mopar, but I've had way better luck with Valvoline ATF4 that you can buy in Autozone or Discount auto.

No grinding or rough shifts.

If you don't have an LSD you don't need to worry about the friction modifier.

I just bought 2 bottles of it from my local dealer 2 days ago. FM is called for in LSD trannys b/c of noise and binding issues with the LSD in high temp conditions.

I used the Valvoline ATF4 that I found at Autozone. It said right on the front of the bottle that it is designed for Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicles so I'm assuming its a direct replacement for the mopar fluid. Also, I didn't bother using the friction modifier and its been fine since. Jay over at N2MB says it is not needed and that it prematurely breaks down the trans fluid. Its been about 12k since the fluid change and it still shifts smoothly.

Royal Purple and I have never looked back. We do swaps all the time for locals and never ever had a complaint. Do not use the Redline crap, 2 tranny's are toast because of that fluid.
