Okay, I have a SPEC S2 clutch and kevlar flywheel. My TOB Fork is still hitting my clutch assembly and my mechanic had a few questions about it. He was wondering, myself included, that if theres a special TOB Fork for this clutch setup cause he says its gouging the hell out of the outer part of the clutch and the fork ( everything is setup properly as well ). He seems to think that either the Fork is too big or too small - he is dumbfounded and so am I cause the slave is brand new and so is the clutch. Could this be a clutch adjustment, slave issue, fork issue, bearing issue ? I have no idea and neither does my mechanic. Any ideas or ways to get around this / fix this issue would be greatly appreciated.
When was the last time the TOB fork was replaced? How many miles are on it? It's a regular wear item that should be replaced around 40,000 miles, unfortunately.
The seat surface where the TOB contacts the fork wears down.
Most likely, yes. All you can do at this point, other than changing it is:
Raise front wheels off ground.
Loosen 8mm clutch pedal adjustment bolt inside cabin where pedal pivots. Lower the clutch pedal and tighten. Lower it as much as possible until the wheels are still spinning when the pedal is all the way down. (Indicates the clutch is not desengaging all the way)
Oh yeah, been there and done that my friend. Adjusted the pedal man many times with no good results ( either when it was far out, the TOB hits the clutch assembly, when it was closer it felt like I needed a gorilla in the back seat to shift ) no real positive outcomes as of yet.
Yeah the TOB fork is toast. You had a modular clutch in it before right? (Prob stock?)
For some reason, the non-modular clutches stick out farther than the modular ones and tend to expose worn TOB Forks easier than the modular units do.
I went from a modular Clutch Masters to a non-modular ACT and the TOB Fork started rubbing immediately after installing the ACT, when it never rubbed once on the Clutch Masters.
Yep, it was an OEM stocker clutch, absolute junk after blowing it in 4th gear racing a Mustang ( I blew his doors off by the way but then had to coast into a parking lot and then take the shoe express home - yeah ! ). The SPEC system is definitely a modular setup like the stock one but seems slightly bigger. So even if its a modular unit, it can still come into contact with a worn out TOB ? My mechanic checked it out and feels as if the TOB Fork thats on the car doesn't work with the SPEC setup, like its too big or too small. Is this possible ?
Me either thats why I figured I'd ask cause when my mechanic informed me of his findings I was like, huh ? Strange. It never did that before the clutch went and then it all of sudden happened as soon as the new clutch when in with the new slave, it just had to be something ya know ? Thanks for your help Philth, appreciate it.
