Default str8 up engine or transmission as well??

hey guys how are you? ok i have some doubt, so i will share since im a total rookie to performance.. ok so if i upgrade my srt-4 engine with a couple of mods, i was told this cars happend to blow transmission in a snap of a finger, meaning i would have to "do a balance" and upgrade both engine and transmission at the same time..

Our transmissions are far from bullet proof, but most people can go 400whp and not have too many issues. Luckily the axles break before the tranny.

The most promonent thing to wear on the tranny is the synchro(s) that smooth out the gear shifts.

There are no gear changes readily available! A performance tranny can be had from PWerks (vendor on here) and they offer a great product, but at a price...

Build your motor and keep a little cash reserve incase your tranny takes a dump. Otherwise, just work on the motor and the appropriate mounts, bushings and shocks for your application (street/strip/autox/roadrace etc...).

your fine with stock tranny
most often when someone breaks and input shaft it is because they are doing WOT shifing that is where you do not let up off the gas and just blip the clutch just enough to get it into the next gear. if anything just buy an extra set of axles more so the driver side one that is if you plan to do a lot of hard launchs from a stop even if not nice to have a spare around just in case. other than that just enjoy driving it and if/when the tranny starts to act up with shifting then you can replace some of the parts with upgrades. A friend of mine has about 30,000+ miles on his AGP stage 4 50 trim and all he did was up grade the clutch to make sure it can handle the power other than that the cars been going well for him.

So in a nut shell keep a spare axle around just in case and uprade the clutch.

Trans is fairly stout and it's easy to replace parts that DO break.

You don't need aftermarket axles, believe me.

I think he meant Stage 1-3 (Mopar) or Stage 1-5 (AGP) turbo kits..... not the Stage axles from DSS....

150k miles on my 03 tranny with LSD added. I've had 350whp since the 50k mile mark & 391 whp for the last 30k miles(Upgraded to PTP S3 Clutch here as well). It is time to rebuild. It is getting tired, but nothing ever broke.

The transmission can take whatever you can throw at it as long as it's driven smoothly. Once you get into higher power ranges, obviously the clutch will have to be upgraded. The stock axles can take a beating as well as long the motor mounts are upgraded and you don't wheel hop.
