Yea u need a 6 puck cause the street disk is rated for 470tq and the 6 puck is 600
So your recommending him a 6 puck in a daily driven car that he just specifically said he wants to last? Thats a bad move.
I would recommend the Xtreme street setup. Its more money, but it will last a lot longer than the puck and will hold your power.

15k on my 6puck, daily driven EVERY day 60miles round trip in stop and go traffic, 2 trips to the track, prob. 20 2nd gear burnouts, removed the clutch about 2 weeks ago, looked almost brand new.
Wouldnt be so quick to downplay the HD 6puck for daily driving, its not that bad at all.

Mine wasn't so bad for 3 runs at the track, but the fourth run when I hit second gear caused the pressure plate to break into 5 pieces. I am sending it back to SB to warranty it. I just don't get it. Five technicians looked at the pressure plate and couldn't see any signs of heat or anything that would have caused it to break like that. Maybe mine was just flawed. But then again, I must be really unlucky if my stage 3 only lasted 1 racing season.

Ok so I will take your one clutch case, vs our hundreds and Ill take your word for it
Now drop your trans and take a look at the disc. If you dont see ANY signs of the material crumbling/cracking or wearing out, Ill retract my statement.
No where did I say the 6 puck couldnt be used for daily driving. What I said was for longevity [not a mere 15k miles] , you should use their full face disc.
I've had the southbend s3 modular for over a year now. Almost 15k put on it. About 3 track days but no slicks. It doesn't show any signs of slipping that I can tell. Maybe I got one of the good ones. Hope it lasts alot longer, heading to the track tonight lol.
I've had nothing but problems with my sbc stage 3. Its never disengaged properly. I'm probly going to end up buying a act soon and swap it in then send back my sbc. Anyone know how long the warranty is on a sbc clutch?

Like I said, I dropped the tranny 2 weeks back, I even took pictures, there was ZERO cracking, crumbling ETC. I inspected it very closely, i took the flywheel over to my machine shop and he didnt even feel it was necesary to cut the flywheel, I made him anyways and took only a few thousands off. The pucks looked brand new.
Longevity = street driving, i doubt many people say i want a clutch that will last many moons at the track. When someone asks for a clutch to last, its because they street drive it. And 15k is no where "mere" for a race clutch daily driven. The street disc will not hold as well as the puck clutch ACT puts out, the question was around holding power, which if you punish a lesser rated clutch, it will blow up sooner.
I mean come on Aaron, your in a 6+ page thread about how bad the SB clutches are, I think that says enough about em. I have yet to see a daily driven 6 puck ACT owner post up bad results, at all. Last post I read was a guy with 40k+ on his, and the rivots blew open on the PP, but the clutch pucks still looked newish.

I think the same thing happened to my stage 3. It was weird. I raced it just fine all season last year and it held great. Then one night I was pulling out of a gas station and my foot slipped off the clutch pedal and the next thing I knew I pushed it to the floor and it started grinding. Then I re-adjusted the clutch pedal and it was about an inch closer to the floor than it previously was and I drove it home. I thought I fixed it but then the next day I stepped on the gas and hit about 5 pounds of boost and it started slipping. It slipped from then on, so I drove up to PT performance to get a new one put in along with a new master cylinder (supposedly hydrolics caused it to go out). This time John put in a stage 5 and I had even worse problems with it.
I believe the warranty on the SBC is one year. They also have to inspect it to make a judgement of whether it was driver error or a defect in workmanship. I remember they didn't want to warranty the stage 3 clutch I had because they said it looked like I messed it up.
