i hear great things about the act clutches but i think my next clutch will be the CM FX600, i dont mind spending a little more to get what i want
ACT 6 puck and a hyd TB FTMFW. Installed 1 1/2 months ago and have been happy with it.
4 SB clutches installed 3 failed here in the PNW. All 3 clutches that failed here in the PNW were the fault of the owner according to SB and PTP. 4 ACT no failures............ yet.
Oh ya some big time nut swingin for RUSH at TK Motorsports for hooking me up.

out of all the clutches sbc has sold, like erabbit said there must have just been a bad batch. and yes, it could have been installed wrong or broke in wrong but nobody wants to look like a asshat and admit it.
i put 1K hwy miles and 200 stop and go. my clutch dosn't slip for shit.

I was one of the failure Southbend clutches, I honestly can say that South bend as a company didnt wanna do shit to help either they said good luck
So then I called them and told them straight up that its bs that you sella clutch and wont back it up?
Bought a ACT and couldnt of been Happier with the car.

I think that's the route I'm going to take on it as well. I am so pissed that I have had two clutches that were rated for double the hp and tq that my car puts out and they still didn't last. It's funny that the stock clutch lasted much better than the aftermarket ones until I hit around 280whp, then it started to slip.

We installed my SBC and it's running strong thus far. So did PTP install the other three that have failed?

He only installed one that I know of, but it failed and young buck recently removed it. Young buck saved the day The other he blamed the installer of being a novice. I think it ended in a bad divorce between the couple. Young buck is going to provide therapy for the two.

I had one at one point, was out of round...(viberated BAD) Vendor blammed the install (hard to fuck up an easy ass bolt up clutch install) but he took a return... Later it came out that it was the first gen version with the bolts that could cause a out of round issue by hitting the flex plate or something...

i have had my S5X modular for over a year and beat the living hell out of it. my setup at the time was

I had the same clutch and it started to slip after a day at the track. It was properly broken in.
I've moved on to a Stage 5 race.
I'm convinced that it all comes down to how it's driven. You can't slip these clutches and heat the shit out of them or they just fail.

As suspected with my earlier posts, mine is slipping like hell. 4th gear pulls are almost non-existent. The clutch has been in the car for less than a year. About a week ago it was holding 4th gear power just fine. Today it was slipping all over the place. It's a modular S4.
I am almost positive I will be moving to a non-mod ACT next. My car had not even seen the fucking track with the SBC, and it was just driven on the street, albeit I did do some fast runs here and there on a popular desolate road by my home. Nothing ever extensive.

Whatever...what ACT would people recommend?

Let's say 450 whp and about equal torque on a daily driver? I want a clutch that will last, for sure. Not one I will have to swap out again shortly after installing it.
Oh yeah, the clutch had a 1,000 mile break in period, too. Stop and go traffic (driving to work in Cleveland rush hour) and down by where my apartment is. I took meticulous care of breaking this damn thing in.
