Default Should I stick with my HDSS with slicks or upgrade?

So I have an unopened dn4 HDSS, ACT street disc, and I have a maxed out stage 3 with slicks. I plan to take it to the dragstrip quite a bit over the summer but I'm having second thoughts about my purchase. From what I've seen this isn't a good choice for slicks. Should I

a) stick with it and see how it holds up
b) upgrade just the disc to a six puck
c) keep the street disc and upgrade the pressure plate to the extreme PP

If it does start slipping can I just drop the tranny and replace only the disc? If so that wouldn't be so bad, or would there potentially be other parts I'd need to replace as a result of it having been slipping? Like resurfacing the flywheel or something.

If i'm lucky maybe I can find somebody who'll trade me for just the PP or for the disc. hint hint, wanna trade me? my SS for your six puck or my HD PP for your XT PP.

This thread is being avoided like it is possessed by the devil. Looking for opinions on what is more important with slicks, a 6 puck or a higher clamp pressure.

If you're worried about it slipping go with a 6 puck. You never want to use an extreme PP unless you absolutely need to because your putting unnecessary pressure on your engines main bearings. If you do start slipping then you can swap out the clutch disk but the slipping would have probably glazed up your PP and flywheel a bit.

Unnecessary pressure on the engine main bearings? How do you figure?

Think about what the flywheel is attached to, and what happens when you press the clutch pedal in. Your using the rear main bearing as an anchor to disengage the clutch.

Not sure if the xtreme PP is too stiff for the main bearings or not.

Well it can't be too stiff or ACT wouldn't offer it. Not that car doesn't have a point about it potentially being unnecessary.

I'm actually thinking about going extreme + 6 puck. I tried out a heavy duty PP and it felt exactly like stock to me. Philth didn't your 6 puck with an HD PP end up slipping on you with slicks + stage 3? I thought I remember reading that. I think I'm going to go with an HTOB so the extra wear on the fork wouldn't be a problem.

ACT will offer what people will buy.. I'm sure the engine can handle having an extreme pressure plate attached to it but you increase the likelihood of having crank walk. Not to mention you'll murder your leg in bumper to bumper traffic.

I know but I'd rather get a clutch that I know can take the abuse and let my leg be murdered. I do mostly highway these days anyway.
