Default possible tranny gear whine?

Im starting to notice what seems to be gear whine when Im accelerating. It goes away when coasting or in neutral. The sound isnt loud but noticeable and distracting. Is this common? Anyone else have this? Could the whine be something else? I dont remember this when I first bought the car 3 months ago. Im going to change the tranny fluid tonight. Ive read in past posts that its important to keep fresh fluid in these trannys. Ive got a 2005 model. Someone recommended Royal Purple synchromax. Any other recommondations?

Thanks for all your help

+1 normal. It shouldn't be too loud though, but you will be able to make it out above the engine noise. It's like the built-in BOV; if you know to listen for it, you'll hear it.

That sound usually occurs around the time that my fluid needs to be changed. As for tranny fluid, I have used used ATF+4 plus friction modifier since I got my car new and no problems (once tried without modifier and it was very hard to shift). People will recommend other fluids but I find them so darn expensive and you must change your fluids regularly anyway so I stick to the least expensive proven fluid. By the way this tranny change I used Wally World ATF+4 since I cant find Mopar there and it is holding up very well after 6K (under $3 a quart)

Thanks for the piece of mind. It is a very slight whine about the same level as the exaust most notable at the 50-60 mph range. I will change fluid this week. Its interesting reading all the trans posts. All my concerns about hard shifting, hard to get into 3rd sometimes, choppy feel, it all seems normal for this trans. I guess there is a price to pay for a lot of power.

I like the amsoil atf4 trans fluid and ya the whine is normal but i usually hear it more noticeably now when it gets really cold at night and when i drive the car when its cold. I know evos have alot louder whine than ours.
