Something I was wondering, any chance switching to something like Royal Purple tranny fluid would help smooth things out?

Sorry I took soooooooo long to post up these pictures.. I have been really busy.

Anyway, here are some pictures of my 2005 after I broke the selctor for the second time. Thanks to a Dodge Dealership in Wichita,KS for voiding my warranty for a Factory Defect.. These are my gates with under 10,000 miles on them.. 3rd gear started to go out and then the Selector broke for the second time.

Hello All, fist let me say after reading everything here I'm starting to get pissed that I bought this car. I had a 01 R/T with no problems I bough a 05 SRT in August with 6km on it. I now have 3000K and am having issues shifting into 1st and 2nd grinds most of the time but no problems with 3rd...yet. The latest problem is a weird and loud grinding noise coming from the front of the car. Its only happening occasionally when rolling to a stop. The dealership said they could not duplicate the noise and to bring it back when its worse. They did replace my burnt fog light for free....weird. and what's with the lack of heated mirrors!!! my R/T had them.

Does anybody else have a loud occasional grinding noise??

I just noticed in the first picture we were resting the selector on a broken input shaft... LOL.

Note the Broken Input Shaft poll that Chuck made..

That was a hell of a day..

My car did the same thing.. I thought the gear was completely gone.. When I would shift into third it would grind like hell and pop out. If I turned the car off and put it in third when I restarted the motor and let the clutch out it would pop it out of gear.. Amazing thing is when I took the tranny apart the gear was fine. It was the slider ring and the friction material that was the problem. You can see my gears in the pics above.

[quote=Johnny Rocket]I have ~450 mi on mine. I have noticed when going into 3rd gear at less than 4000 rpm, it feels a little grindy but it ends up going all the way into gear. It feels similar to a 4X4 when moving at 3mi/hr and shifting the transfer case from 2 wheel drive to 4 wheel drive. QUOTE]
Perfect description! Mine too. It's an 05 with 1000 miles.

I have an 05 comm ed with 13k miles. My problem started out exactly as you said above. Yesterday I went to third, the shifter went in but free revved in neutral now I can move the shifter through 3rd 4th and 5th with no clutch but still in neutral and second wont take. I'm taking it to the dealer tommorow. I'm thinking of replacing the shift selectors with AGP shift selectors and cryo treating the tranny. Has anyone else taken these or other steps to strengthen the tranny? I would be very interested to hear anyones problems/solutions.

damnit, subtract one from "It does not go in on the first try" and add one to "It makes no noise and works perfectly always"

accidently voted wrong
