I am now having problems with my 3rd gear. I have an 04 EBLUE...If i try and shift smoothly into 3rd with no effort, the minute i release the clutch it grinds and pops out of gear... If i hold it in place with a little pressure, it holds and drives normal...Synchros going out? I dunno whats wrong, just started happening...I have about 24k on it...

i have just taken my tranny appart and my bearings are f*** up and my third gear rings seem to be almost welded to the input shaft. will keep you guys updated and post some pics in the future.

Hello Everyone,

I am new to the SRT4 world and also to all the tuning up of cars. I have an 04 with 7800k on it, only mods are cold airintake, new rims and tires, Pirelli's Nero Zero, and thats it. I bought the car with the mods on already, I am also having some of the gearshifting problems as all of you are posting. This really sucks, i would not have bought the car if I knew about this. My problem is downshifting from 3rd to 2nd or from 2nd to 1st, I have to force it or place it back in neutral and then try again. I am taking this issue and car to the dealer, there has to be a fix to this problem. Damn, I shouldve gone with the GTI.

Ok guys, my car is going BACK to the dealership after just getting it on Monday....dealer guys are being ghey about the 3rd gear service bulletin...i need exact info (number or something) on it so they'll admit it exists. any help is greatly appreciated.

Shifty is the man... So now back to the topic.

i am having the same problems in my '05 with about 600mi. during regular driving, it is popping out of gear or not catching and just grinding so i have to depress the clutch again and let it settle before trying again. this only happens from 2nd to 3rd shifts. when i am running the car hard it goes in with no real problem. plus me being in england doesnt help any due to lack of any dealerships so any DIY fixes would be great.
