When I shift into third whether I'm up or down shifting, it feels like I'm pushing the shifter through a bag of sand with tiny pebbles in it. It always goes into gear fine and never wants to come out, but pushing it into third takes considerably more effort than any other gear.

I have an '04 and mine feels VERY notchy and I sometimes get a slight grind when going in to 3rd. This happens under normal driving conditions, not only WOT.

Has anyone taken theirs in and tried getting the problem fixed under warranty? If so, what did they say? Did they fix it? What did they replace?

My SRT has just over 1k miles, but when I take it in to get some other minor things fixed I'm at least going to mention the 3rd gear issue. That way even if they don't/can't fix it, it's documented, and later on when I lose the synchro they'll see there was a previously mentioned problem.

My '05 only has problems with downshifting to 3rd gear. It's only intermittent though. It seems to be the worst after sitting in traffic for a while. Even if I rev-match, the sumbitch won't go in unless you force it real hard.

05' with 7k mi. same as everyone else, WOT 2nd->3rd grinds, 4th->3rd downshift grinds then pops in, then back out of gear if revs not matched. I think a recall is in order for tranny and flywheel bolts, mine backed out wrecked starter, and pressure plate also had a leak on the rear main seal all were replaced under warranty kinda leary of the long term tho any one else had flywheel bolt problems?

We have a "failed axle" sticky so we should have a "failed tranny" sticky.. I vote to make this a sticky for all to see including DCX who surfs here occasionally!!

I took my 04' (19100miles) to the Dealer yesturday, when my tranny fucking died on me, after shifting into 3rd at redline. Dealer says i got clutch problems, doesn't disengage all the way.

I had problems with 3rd gear for a while, sometimes it grinds when u shift at higher rpm, sometimes it doesn't go in and pops out, does it almost all the time when downshifting.

I'll see what they say on Monday.

I'm not stock stg1,agpwga,bdj3"dump

Just wondering: those of you who've changed MMs, installed inserts or replaced the shifter, did you adjust the shifter cable? Anytime the driveline or shifter gets repositioned you should adjust the cable.

Anyway, I have had 2 Serts, (yes i call them Serts) a 2003 and a 2005.. My 2003 is still going strong with no part failures. My 2005 has broke 2 shift selectors and now TODAY just grenaded what is left of 3rd gear... FUCK this tranny.. I am making DOG gears for this car..

Anyone interested in a DOG set up..????
