3RD gear shift fork is the weak point you can over throw them and the shift selector will cut notches in the shift fork and not let it go in to gear all the way then causing u to destroy a syncro. just put in a new 3rd gear syncro and werks billet shift fork and billet shift selector and cm fx 600 and every thing works great! no more problems

You are completely right! I bought the stock replacement 3/4 shift fork. I finally was able to have it done. If you go to my above threads you will see the problems I faced.

Anyhow, we swapped it out, shift fork was indeed stretched out. We swapped and took it for a spin. It will go into 3rd but not without a very uneasy crunching sound. Synchro is shot, done, KAPUT!!

So more or less all we did was put a bandaide on it until I can have 3rd gear rebuilt.

On a good note when I do go into 3rd my car pulls pretty damn hard, I have been shifing from 1 to 2 to 4 for almost 4 months.

I'll see if i can get the pics from the install.

Well after only a few weeks with the new shift fork the end result finally happened. I can no longer get it in 3rd. Maybe one out of 20 times. I am going to have to have the 3rd gear completely rebuilt. I will keep those posted who keep checking in this thread.

one day i went to the mall and was backing into a spot and and i put my foot on the clucth and i heard like a pop noise and of course was like wtf?!?so after i pulled in i turned off the car and pumped the clucth a couple of times like 10 or so it kept makin that pop noise so i got my lunch in the mall came back and did it again and after one time it stopped so i thought it was ok from there then thats where it happend it felt so hard to put the car in gear not just my 1st gear like all and reverse is the worst. I had one of my friends look at it and he said i could be my clutch or my syncros. Please any information would be nice i'm still a lil new to this whole thing. Also how did some of you fix this kind of problem if you had similar. My car has about 45,450.If you know what the problem maybe how much am i looking at.

You prob broke the bushing on the clutch pedal. Look for a black star shaped plastic piece that holds then end of the clutch adjustment part on the pedal. If there are less then 4 ears it is broken replace it with a 4 dollar part or upgrade with the billet one from Ragetek..

my 05' only has about 23k miles and is completly fine when up shifting... downshifting into 2nd hardly ever works and i have to be completly stopped in order to get into first gear... i have granny shifted ever since i bought the car and have swapped the tranny fluid once at 18k miles with royal purple synchromax. 3rd gear has NEVER been a problem at all.

My second tranny shot shit!! Im so sick of this dodge transmissions suck big nasty unicorn balls! this was a brand new tranny (that i had to wait 2-3 months to get) not even 7,000 miles on it and im talking a BABIED 7,000, and i've got my 3rd gear grinding and poppin out any time i don't just granny shift it. what can i do to make this not happen again, i dont understand how these guys with stage 3 run around without shredding their transmissons.

Im all ears thanks

is your clutch disengaging close to the floor? does the car roll forward as soon as you release the pedal?

a worn fork, bad hydrolic components, bent master cyl arm, misadjusted clutch pedal, bad/missing shifter bushings, air in the hydrolic line, broken clutch pedal pivot bushing, bent fork....lots of possible culprits that can eat your syncros and wear out the teeth on your gears.

just sell the car and get some crazy fuel efficient car.
if you are level headed and mature, buy a motorcycle to feed your need for speed.

Killed mine last week. Tranny is stuck in 3rd, I can move the shifter freely from 3rd to N to 4th, but that's it, even without using the clutch pedal. The clutch is engaged even when I move it to N, and I burnt up the clutch anyways.

Neato, I get to upgrade everything now!

heyy guys... i figured id share as well lol. no problems but in 3rd gear.... it doesnt happen everytime i upshift, but occasionally when i upshift into 3rd it wont shift smoothly. there is no grinding noise, but i have to almost force it into third. i usually have to pop it in neutral, rev the motor a lil and then try again. i figured id start by changing the tranny fluid and see what happens. im hoping it aint nothing serious but i know these trannies are sh** boxes =/
