Thumbs up Mopar LSD fluid + ams oil tranny fluid

I heard that the mopar lsd fluid breaks down the tranny fluid and makes it diff to switch gears? So should i stop using mopar lsd? Will that affect the LSD's whole purpose? i keep hearing all this stuff about it? Im due for a tranny fluid change that imma do myself again with help of a local friend stud lee. Please lemme know tha 411. thank you

I say straight Amsoil. I honestly think the Mopar additive just messes stuff up. I've been running straing Amsoil atf for 10k miles and continuously recommend it.

On the quaife website , they dont call for a friction modifier for our LSD , but dodge does , frankly i think its because dodge is saving time and money on the assembly line by just having one fill station for transmissions . but i dont run any fric. modifier with my synthetic gear oil and the cars fine ...

You don't need it. Just use Amsoil without it.

How many manual or automatic transmissions does dodge make that has a LSD in it?? Or how many call for friction modifier?? Just one. So how would that be saving time and money?

The friction modifier prevents the "chattering" from the front tires when doing low speed turning.

99% of our transmission problems are because 1) people use the incorrect lubricant or 2) people really dont know how to drive.

Where exactly does this "chatter" come from in an LSD that does not use clutches and plates? It's a gear-driven differential. Additives are added to differentials using clutches and plates.

obviously you've never driven one that a retarded customer has put the wrong fluid in. It happens enough that chrysler put a bulletin out on it.

I've driven and rebuilt several of these transaxles that have had several different combos of fluid ran through them. That LSD isn't going to cause chatter because of the wrong fluid. That LSD is only going to start making noise if something is worn inside of it. If the planet pinion gears had chipped teeth or the wave washers weren't putting enough pressure on the sun gears, something along those lines and then it would start making noise.

Regardless, assuming you're working at a Chrysler dealership, you should know the difference between this differential and your typical clutch and plate LSD. If not, they need to pull you away from doing tranny work! The additive that those kind of differentials call for are to keep the clutches from slipping and sticking to the plates, which causes that chatter during low speed turning that you're referring to.

As far as the bulletin, I checked Alldata and couldn't find anything. They're slow to update bulletins, but I didn't see anything for any year of the SRT-4 regarding noise from the LSD. If you have access to it, cut and paste it into this thread. I'm interested in seeing what it says.
