I'm newbie and first off, if this has been covered, I apologize, but I've searched and searched and come up with nothing.
Alot of you guys mention shifting issues going into third. This made me think about this question.
Does anyone know about or looked into the possibility of a restrictor mounted anywhere inline of the clutch hydraulics or in the clutch slave cylinder?
Vehicles such as trans-ams with the 6 spd tranny have a restrictor in the hydraulic line which is supposed to give a better clutch engagement. Problem is, when you get on it hard shifting through the gears, by the time you get to shift into 3rd, there is not enough hydraulic fluid to disengage the clutch and a blocked shift and or grinding occurs.
There is a restrictor in some Hyundai cars as well that does the same thing, except with the Hyundai the restrictor is in the slave cylinder.
While I know those cars are not similar to our SRT-4's, it seems like there is a possibility of having something like this in our cars. That and the clutch pedal feel is really squishy and I have the hardest time knowing if I am engaging and or slipping the crap out of the clutch.
If any of you haven't heard of this on other vehicles I'll try to find and post some links to relevant info. I just have to search for it.
